Holiday Checked Bag Information for Latin America Passengers

American Airlines and American Eagle are implementing their customary policy limiting the size and number of checked bags, as well as prohibiting checked boxes to and from certain cities in Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Excess, oversize, and overweight baggage will not be accepted for flights to the destinations covered by the bag embargo. Passengers will be limited to a maximum of two checked bags, with each not exceeding 50 pounds and 62 linear inches. One carry-on bag will be allowed with a maximum weight of 40 pounds and a maximum size of 45 linear inches. In addition, one personal item such as a purse or briefcase is also allowed. Sports equipment, such as golf bags, bikes and sufrboards, may be checked as part of the total checked-bag allowance, although additional charges may apply.

Change to Domestic Refundable Fare Rules

Effective immediately, AA has rolled back its change to Domestic refundable fares which was issued on July 21 st. As a result, most Domestic refundable fares will once again no longer have a ticketing requirement. Some refundable fares, including deeply discounted fares and those with advance purchase requirements will still have ticketing requirements as before. Please advise to check the detailed fare rules carefully when booking.

Cruise the Internet on Select AA Flights!

AA travelers can now browse restaurant reviews, book a theater ticket or check the weather as they cruise at 30,000 feet making altitude no longer an excuse for missing that e-mail from the boss. AA now offers its own in-flight service, dubbed Gogo, on flights between New York, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco. Wireless Internet connections are being offered on all 15 of its Boeing 767-200 jets thanks to a partnership with communications firm Aircell. Press Release

New Service to Brazil

American Airlines will add three destinations in Brazil to its route network in November, further growing its presence in South America’s largest country while expanding its leadership position in flights from the United States to Latin America.
American will begin serving the cities of Belo Horizonte, Salvador de Bahia, and Recife in Brazil on Nov. 2, all from
American’s Miami.

During periods of irregular operations / off-schedule operations / weather disruptions, agency-assisted reaccommodation, including rebooking and reticketing when applicable, must be completed at least 60 minutes prior to the replacement flight’s departure time. Adequate time must be allowed for system updates and passenger processing (security processes, baggage checks, baggage transfers, gate transfers, boarding, etc.).

New Ticketing Policy for Refundable Domestic Fares

As of today, AA has introduced ticketing restrictions on all refundable fares within the United States and Canada. On most Premium Cabin and Full Fare Coach inventories, this change will add a ticketing requirement of 3 days before departure or 1 day after the booking is made, whichever comes later. more...
