March 4 Schedule Change
March 6, 2006

With American Airlines' schedule change over the weekend, you will notice a greater number of new "through-flights" in schedules and city pair availability from April 3, 2006 forward. Through flights are defined as the same flight number that makes one or more stops but the flight number and normally the equipment remains the same. This change will result in a more dependable airline going forward as the entire crew stays with the plane, greatly reducing the possibility of crew misconnects.

Our "auto-reaccommodation" system currently has some limitations when rebooking passengers from connections to either through or non-stop options. Agency booked PNRs have been communicated to agencies via the normal schedule change process. It is imperative that agencies work the schedule change PNRs in a timely manner to ensure customers are reaccommodated with the flights that best suit their travel plans.

As a reminder, the issuing travel agency may only reissue a ticket per rule 240/80 if the date and origin and destination are unchanged and there is no change in fare or fare basis.

See Rule 240/80 in the Reaccommodations Section for reaccommodation details.
