01 September: New-look oneworld.com Launched as More of a Sales Tool
A new-style website for oneworld was launched on 23 August 2006 - with the aim of making the facility more of a sales
tool for the alliance and its member airlines.
With a complete redesign to give it a fresh look, more user-friendly format and
easier to follow navigation, the upgraded www.oneworld.com* makes it easier for visitors to check flight schedules across the
alliance's unrivalled global network and see where its member airlines fly.
Among its key new features are:
- An interactive network map, showing every one of the destinations its member airlines serve and the
routes they fly from each of those airports.
- An ability to check, direct from the site's home page, schedules for its member airlines, affiliates and
code-share partners, with more direct links to their own websites for customers who want to book flights on-line.
- Specific sites, in local languages, tailored to key countries including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands
and Switzerland, including pages dedicated to travel agents in each of these countries.
- More detailed information on the alliance's unrivalled range of fares, including downloadable brochures in
a choice of nine languages, maps showing sample itineraries and an interactive tool to help plan round-the-world journeys.
- Extensive links to the appropriate pages of its member airlines' own websites for customers who want more information about
them or ask questions about them or the alliance.
Popular features have been retained and improved, such as:
- Timetables covering flights offered by all its member airlines, downloadable in formats for PCs, PDAs or in PDF, and including an interactive tool for helping plan journeys using the alliance's round-the-world fares.
- Details of oneworld's services and benefits for frequent flyers.
- Guides to key alliance hub airports and cities
- The alliance's on-line pressroom, including latest news, background information and downloadable logos and pictures.
oneworld Vice-President Commercial Nicolas Ferri said: "Our overall objective in
relaunching oneworld.com is to make it more of a sales tool rather than simply providing basic information about the alliance.
"So we've made it easier for visitors to find key features like the alliance flight timetable, with improved links
to airline sites where they can make flight bookings and added new elements we know will be immensely popular and support
our sales efforts, like our new interactive network map."
The new site was developed for the alliance by the team at the alliance's central management office with representatives
from member airlines, led by oneworld's Business Manager Commercial Petra Mayer, Brand Manager Fiona Munn and Manager
IT Operations Anna Chmielewski. Overall responsibility for the project lies with the oneworld Marketing Steering Group,
composed of senior marketing representatives from all member carriers.
A press release highlighting the improvements to oneworld.com will be issued in a few days' time, to allow the new site to bed down first.
Check the new-style site yourself at www.oneworld.com*.

11 September: New Requirements for Advance Passenger Information
On September 18, AA will implement system enhancements that will support the collection of additional passenger information,
as required by United States Customs and Border Protection and defined by the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS),
for inbound US flights.
Under the APIS guidelines, passengers are required to provide Country of Residence. Additionally, visitors to the US must provide a
US Visiting Address while in the country.
To facilitate the collection of the required information, all agencies are asked to input a passenger's Country of
Residence into the PNR using the industry-defined SSR DOCA formats.
International agencies, including Canadian outlets, should also input the US Visiting Address for non-resident passengers
arriving on flights into the US. All visitors to the US are required to provide a full address
(street name and number, city, state and zip code) for their first night's accommodation in the US.
In order to expedite your customers' airport check-in process, it is advisable to include the expanded
passenger information outlined above at time of booking or ticketing.
For specific SSR DOCA format information, please refer to your GDS resources.
