12 December: Reminder, Special Meals Change

As a reminder, AA discontinued many special meals effective October 1 and also many markets no longer offer any special meals. Customers holding reservations that were booked before October 1, or customers who book with travel agencies may not be aware of the changes. Where possible, please verify that your passenger has the correct meal in their reservation. For all information and to see a list of meals that American Airlines currently offers, please go to our Meals Page.

12 December: Baggage embargoes during holiday season

In anticipation of increased holiday travel to and from certain cities in Latin America, Mexico and the Carribbean, American Airlines and American Eagle will once again implement a holiday policy limiting the size and number of checked bags and prohibiting checked boxes.

The limits will be in effect between Dec 2. 2005, and Jan 9. 2006. During this period, boxes will not be accepted, and baggage will be limited to two checked items and one carry-on. The baggage and box embargo applies to:

South America
Cali and Medellin, Colombia
Maracaibo, Venezuela
La Paz and Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Quito, Ecuador

Central America
San Salvador, El Salvador
San Pedro Sula and Teguciagalpa, Honduras

Carribbean
Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Puerto Plata, Santiago
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Mexico
Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Leon, Guadalajara, San Luis Potosi and Mexico City, in Mexico.

All American Eagle flights to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico in the Carribbean are also included.

There is a year-round box embargo for passengers travelling from or through New York's Kennedy Airport to all Caribbean and Latin America destinations.

Excess, oversize, and overweight bagage will not be acted for flights to the destinations covered by the bag embargo. passengers will be limited to a maximum of two checked bags, with each not exceeding 50 pounds and 62 linear inches, (computed by adding the length, width and ehight of the bag). One carry-on bag will be allowed with a maximum weight of 40 pounds and a maximum size of 45 linear inches. In addition, one personal item such as a purse, or briefcase is also allowed. Sports equipment such as golfbags, bikes and surfboards, can be accepted as part of the total checked-bag allowance, although additional charges may apply.

15Dec: 2006 Elite Buy Back Offer

Effective January 26, 2006, the AAdvantage® program will once again be offering AAdvantage Platinum® and AAdvantage Gold® members who do not requalify the opportunity to renew their elite status through February 28, 2007 for a one-time fee.

A two-tiered pricing structure will again be offered, allowing members who have made more progress toward Elite Status requalification during 2005 to benefit from lower prices to extend their status.

15 December: IET With All Nippon Airways

Effective, 13 Dec 2005, American Airlines will launch an interline electronic ticketing agreement with All Nippon Airways (NH). All eligible flights operated by All Nippon will include the /E indicator. VCRs issued by NH will begin with 205. The e-ticketing page will be updated with this information.
