Miles For Kids In Need(R)

How Your Miles Can Help
Since 1989, AAdvantage members have donated unused miles to help kids in need. These miles provide transportation for children from needy families who require medical treatment that's not available where they live. And, if the coming summer is like the past ones, lots of kids will be busy getting healthy and using many miles in the process.

If you can help us replenish some of these miles, we (and the kids) would really appreciate it. Please check your mileage balance and consider making a donation* today. To donate online, select the Donate button below, or call AAdvantage Customer Service. (Requires a minimum donation of 1,000 miles)

*Your donation is not tax deductible.

Alex, who just turned three, is pictured on board an American Airlines plane on his way to Orlando, Florida. However, unlike most families going to Orlando, Alex and his parents weren't going to Walt Disney World®. They were headed to an even more exciting place for them - a doctor's appointment.

Alex has regressive autism. Children with this disorder are sometimes described as living in a world of their own with little or no ability to interact with those around them. His appointment was with autism expert, Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, at the International Child Development and Research Center for testing and evaluation of his condition. Then, based on the recommendations, his local doctors in the Dallas/Fort Worth area were able to fine tune Alex's treatment plan.

Although autism makes it difficult to discern Alex's personality and interests, his dad reports that the neighborhood park, the Dallas Aquarium and zoos seem to be among his favorite places.
