Earn Miles

Earn miles when flying on Qantas Airways marketed and operated flights for travel on an eligible published fare ticket. Miles are also earned on Qantas Airways codeshare flights*.

Travel on Qantas and affiliate airlines counts toward qualifying for AAdvantage elite status membership.

*Travel on codeshare flights marketed by Qantas Airways (booked under a QF flight number) and operated by Jetstar Airways only earn miles when the customer is traveling on oneworld Explorer Fare.

What is an eligible published fare ticket?

Eligible published fare tickets must be:

  1. Booked in a eligible booking code — find the fare booking code by looking for a single letter which immediately follows the flight number on your ticket. Next, compare this booking code against the airline's "Earn Miles" chart below to determine whether or not it is eligible to earn base miles and, at what percentage base miles will be accrued.
  2. On an eligible routing — check the airline's "Earn Miles" chart below to determine if any origin and destinations are excluded from earning base miles.

Redeem AAdvantage Miles

Use AAdvantage miles to book award travel on Qantas Airways flights with one of the following award options:

  • oneworld & Other Airline Awards - Awards that allow you to travel to and from your desired destination using any combination of our airline participants. Redeem Miles on aa.com for Your Next Flight on Qantas
  • Explorer Awards - Awards that allow you to travel to multiple destinations on a single award, including around-the-world journeys, using a combination of our oneworld alliance airlines and their affiliate airlines.

All awards are valid for one-way travel — unless otherwise specified — and may be combined to create round-trip or multi-city travel. These awards are MileSAAver type awards and as such are subject to special seating limitations and to certain travel embargo dates.

There are no Travel Embargo Dates on Qantas Airways.

Missing Mileage Credit

Please allow up to 30 days for AAdvantage mileage to automatically post to your account.

To request missing mileage credit for flights flown on Qantas, complete an online mileage request form. When completing this form, choose Qantas from the "Select Airline Flown" drop-down menu.
