Mileage upgrade awards on American Airlines

Use your miles to upgrade to the next cabin on most domestic and international flights. Request your upgrade award by calling American Airlines Reservations.

If your upgrade is not confirmed by the time you check in, you’ll be automatically added to the airport upgrade standby list using your original upgrade request date and time stamp.

    AAdvantage flight awards are subject to, and the passenger is responsible for, the September 11th Security Fee, applicable departure taxes, federal inspection fees, passenger facility charges, and any other taxes and fees imposed by a government entity (U.S. or foreign), as well as any fees or surcharges imposed by the carrier.
