- Must be booked directly with AA.
- If the Travel agency booked the bereavement itin the Pnr will be cancelled by AA RES and rebooked
- Tickets must be purchased within 24 hours after reservations are confirmed
- Travel agencies may issue or reissue tickets for these fares
- Changes to reservations MUST be made by AA directly
- Travel must commence within 7 days of booking, unless stated otherwise in the Rule Display
Customer Information
AA will verify circumstances for authorization of compassion fare, and the below must be provided to American:
- Name of family member with the medical emergency
- Relationship of customer to the family member
- Name, address (if possible) and telephone of attending physician or hospital for medical emergency.

- Name, address (if possible) and telephone of doctor filing death certificate or funeral home for death of family member or domestic partner.
- Name of family member who is deceased.
- Relationship of customer to the family member
- Name, address (if possible) and telephone of doctor filing death certificate or funeral home for death of family member or domestic partner.
Changes
- Customer may change at any time
- Normal add/collect applies if routing, fare basis, etc., is changed
- Change fee, however, is waived on changes
Refunds
- Refund Totally Unused Tickets
- Full refund- no change fee
- Refund allowed through ARC/BSP —

- Refund Partially Unused Tickets
- Travel Agents may not refund partially used tickets and must request the partial refund directly with AA Refunds. Travel Agency may use the online refund form refer to Schedule Change-Rule 240/80 Online Refund. Indicate in the Comments: Bereavement/partial ticket refund. This form is applicable for U.S. and Canada based agencies only.
- Change fee is waived
