Commissions Section One

Offshore/Transborder Ticketing

American Airlines no longer pays a base commission for tickets issued by travel agents located outside of the U.S. including Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada, for flights on itineraries originating within the territory of the United States including Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.

This is an expansion of the policy change American implemented March 18 2002, when it announced it would no longer pay a base commission to travel agents within the U.S. including Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. The change applies to all tickets, Miscellaneous Charges Orders (MCOs), Prepaid Ticket Advices (PTAs) and bookings made via the internet for travel originating within the U.S and Canada. Effective January 1, 2008, AA no longer pays commission on VUSA, N1VISIT or N2VISIT fares.

Because American's base commission and other commission structures can vary by country and travel agent, American reiterates that travel agents may not evade or circumvent American's commission rate structures by means of shifting of bookings to a branch office e.g., via use of satellite ticket printer or electronic transfer of ticketing data, through commission splitting or referral arrangements with a correspondent travel agency, or by any other means.

Agencies Located In 50 U.S, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands And Canada

Effective for all tickets issued on/after March 18, 2002, where American Airlines validation is used. Airline Recording Corporation (ARC) and IATA approved locations classified by American Airlines as full service, on-site, restricted access or Satellite Ticket Printer (STP).

Selection Of Ticketing Carrier
In accordance with the ARC reporting agreement, the agent will use the ticketing identification of any ARC carrier scheduled to participate in the transportation. If the ticketing id of a carrier scheduled to participate in the transportation is not available; the agent will use the ticketing id of any other ARC carrier who has provided authorization for such use.

IATA Only Travel Agents Located In The 50 U.S.
In order to qualify as an agent representing American Airlines in the 50 U.S, the travel agent must be approved first by ARC and then by American Airlines. IATA only agents located in the 50 United Sates cannot plate on AA, and therefore, are not eligible for commission.

Agencies Located Outside The 50 U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands And Canada

Effective January 1, 2008, AA will no long pay commission on VUSA or N1VISIT/N2VISIT fares.
