Expired Refundable Ticket / VCR Refunds - Ticket Aged Fee

All requests for information or a refund of an expired refundable ticket or a purged refundable VCR (over 13 months from date of issuance) are subject to the aged ticket investigation fee, in addition to any applicable change fee.

All requests must be made in writing to Passenger Refunds:

  • The aged ticket investigation fee is $100 USD/$145 CAD. Checks are payable to American Airlines.
  • Requests for refunds on expired refundable fare tickets may not be more than three years from the date of issuance of the original ticket.
  • Letter of request with investigation fee to include your full name, return address, phone number, and ticket number. The letter of request must be mailed to:

Non-refundable Tickets

Non-refundable fare tickets issued are valid for one year from the date of issuance. Non-refundable expired tickets have no value.
