Kevin E. Cox

Kevin E. Cox currently serves as American’s Vice President – Real Estate, where he directs all of the company’s facility and real estate activities worldwide, including acquisition, development and operation of airport properties, maintenance facilities and office buildings.

Previously, Cox served as American’s Vice President – State and Community Affairs, where he was directly responsible for all political, legislative, civic and community issues in the cities and states served domestically by American Airlines. In this role, he also oversaw international governmental affairs for the company.

Prior to coming to American Airlines, Cox was with Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport for 16 years in a variety of legal, governmental, financial, and marketing roles. Upon his departure from DFW and for the preceding seven years, he served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for DFW International Airport. In this capacity, he oversaw the strategic, financial, operational and developmental functions of the organization and its 1600 employees. While at DFW, Mr. Cox was instrumental in the planning, development, and financing of the Airport’s $2.7 billion Capital Development Plan. Cox also led the DFW Airport response efforts to repeal the Wright Amendment; played a critical role in drafting the historic agreement to resolve the dispute; and testified twice before Congress at hearings of the Senate Subcommittee on Aviation and House Subcommittee on Aviation.

Prior to coming to DFW Airport, Cox was an associate with the law firm of Strasburger and Price in Dallas, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 1985. He received his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University in 1988, was named to the Order of the Barristers, and served as an Associate Editor of the Southwestern Law Journal.
