Lauri L. Curtis was named Vice President – Flight Service in May 2012. In this role, Curtis will lead the Flight Service department and have direct responsibility for American Airlines 17,000 flight attendants and the inflight service they deliver to American’s customers.
Curtis served as Vice President – Diversity, Leadership and Engagement from July 2010 through 2012. Her responsibilities include succession planning, recruiting, diverse segment marketing and diversity leadership.
Curtis served as American’s Vice President – Onboard Services from 2003 to 2010 where she had direct responsibility for Flight Service, Inflight Products, Food and Beverage and Duty Free operations. In this key role, Curtis was responsible for many of the airline’s customer touch points as well as the leadership of American’s flight attendants, which comprise the largest single workgroup on American’s global campus.
Curtis began her career with American in 1978 as a flight attendant. She subsequently served in management positions within Human Resources, Passenger Sales and Sabre, Inc., when AMR owned that company. At the executive level, Curtis has served as Senior Vice President – Strategic Planning, AMR Services; and as Group President for TeleService Resources and Data Management Services, both former subsidiaries of American’s parent company, AMR. In her last role, she served American Airlines as Vice President – Reservations and eTDS.
Curtis has a bachelor’s degree with a double major in social psychology and Spanish from Colgate University. She has been recognized by American as an example for working women who balance both a career and family life.
Curtis, who grew up in Connecticut, now makes her home in Fort Worth, Texas, with her husband and three children.
