Elise Eberwein is executive vice president, people and communications, for American Airlines Group and its principal subsidiary company, American Airlines. In this role, Eberwein oversees human resources, media relations, employee communications, social media and public affairs.
Previously, Eberwein served as executive vice president, people, communications and public affairs, for US Airways, her role since 2009. Eberwein has more than 26 years of combined airline experience. She joined America West Airlines in 2003 as vice president, corporate communications, from Denver-based Frontier Airlines, where she spent five years leading that airline’s media relations, employee communications, customer relations, community relations and government affairs activities. She began her career as a flight attendant for TWA and spent 11 years serving in various capacities at that airline.
Eberwein was awarded the 2012 Volunteer Executive of the Year by the Phoenix Business Journal for US Airways’ community services programs and was named as a Woman Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal in 2010. Under her leadership, US Airways’ diversity and inclusion initiatives earned awards in 2012 from LATINAStyle magazine, Military Times Edge magazine and Black EOE Journal as a top diversity employer.
Eberwein holds a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications from Lindenwood University.
