Cindy A. Fiedelman was appointed Vice President – People & Diversity, at American Airlines in March 2013. In this role, she is responsible for talent management, talent acquisition, compensation, diversity and engagement initiatives, working to further American's culture, and people development.
Cindy has a history of building teams focused on attracting top talent, transforming organizations, and creating engaged workforces. Prior to joining American, she served as Vice President, Human Resources & Talent Acquisition, at Avaya, Inc., where she led the global HR Business Partner and Recruiting team. In addition to responsibility for executive staffing and professional and university recruiting, Cindy worked with the business to drive initiatives in talent management, career development, global onboarding and orientation. She also played a key leadership role in Avaya's acquisition and integration of the Nortel Enterprise business.
From 2004-2006, Cindy served as Director, Global Talent Acquisition for Sun Microsystems. There she managed staff throughout the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, and created and managed a centralized executive recruiting process worldwide. She also led the staffing integration team and senior executive assimilation team as part of Sun Microsystems' $4.1B acquisition of StorageTek.
Cindy also served as an executive search consultant for Heidrick & Struggles from 2001-2004, focusing on client engagements in high technology and telecommunications industries. Here she identified and engaged businesses to serve their human capital needs, and managed client relationships throughout the search process for executive and C-level staffing needs in technology, telecommunications, and consumer industries.
In her role as Director of Operations & Deployment for Comcast from 1998-2001, Cindy was responsible for program management, organization development, and business operations for the internet service division and cable operations group. She also led merger and integration activities for Corporate and Field Services & Operations groups (AT&T Broadband/MediaOne merger in 2000).
Cindy started her career in hotel operations with the Aspen Skiing Company, and held corporate positions with Boston Market and Einstein's bagels before joining Comcast. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania.
