AMERICAN ADDS THREE BOEING 777-300ER AIRCRAFT TO THE FLEET

New American, New Aircraft

As you know, we have already taken many positive strides toward building the new American. From revenue performance, which has outpaced our competitors, to industry-leading narrowbody products, great things are happening. We have also talked a lot about our fleet modernization efforts and responsible network growth, as part of our business plan, with an emphasis on international flying in markets where demand is expected to be strong.

We have more aircraft on order than any other U.S. airline, which gives us the unique opportunity to build the most modern fleet. I'm pleased to tell you that, today, we took another step toward achieving our goals, as we exercised options for two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and also decided to upgrade one of our B777-200ER aircraft to a B777-300ER. With these actions, we now have commitments for 18 777s with 13 777-300ERs and five 777-200ERs.

We're the first and only U.S. airline to order the state-of-the-art 777-300ER, arriving later this year, outfitted with three classes with fully lie-flat First and Business Class seats, our new Main Cabin Extra, and Wi-Fi capability to keep customers connected while traveling internationally. And, while these aircraft are great from a customer perspective, they're also extremely efficient, which means we'll be able to more profitably build the network. If you haven't seen it already, I encourage you take to a look at this video from our recent aircraft announcement to see the industry-leading interiors for yourself. These 777-300ERs are one more example of how we're making strides to renew our fleet and ensure we're maintaining and growing our share of high-value customers.

These efforts, coupled with the great service that our people provide every day, have certainly led to our excellent second quarter revenue and operational performance and help us to continue building even greater momentum as we restructure our business and create the new American. Our customers, our people and our business partners, such as Boeing, are helping us get closer every day to what lies ahead for our airline.
