American Airlines is committed to providing customers with diverse and satisfying food and beverage options concurrent with changing food trends. Using expert knowledge from members of the American Airlines Culinary Team along with customer feedback, the airline continues to expand its culinary options and overall service throughout the aircraft. These initiatives display American's commitment and continued investment in quality products and services that provide customers a palate-pleasing inflight experience.
Since 1988, American Airlines has enlisted the expertise of some of the most prominent and well-respected chefs in the United States to help define the direction of our inflight food service.
In working with the culinary team, American Airlines works with chefs who possess strong skills relevant to a specific region to consult with American and create new entrées for specific markets. American recently announced the addition of two celebrity chefs, Richard Sandoval and Marcus Samuelsson to the culinary team. Sandoval’s Latin-inspired dishes and background as an award-winning restaurateur have enhanced the diverse options in the premium class cabins while customers in the main cabin may enjoy Samuelsson’s tasty array of snacks and entrees inspired by a culturally diverse chef who has been named a Bravo Top Chef Master.

As part of American's effort to enhance the onboard experience and give customers the choices they value, the Menu Variety Program (MVP) launched domestically in November 2007. The program consists of different menus which rotate through the First and Business Class cabins twice a year, resulting in a wide array of meals offered onboard. American continues to introduce new entrées in support of the Menu Variety Program.
Menu items are rotated throughout the year to provide American's customers variety and to coincide with seasonal freshness. Entrée selections are made by considering the flavors and delicacies of the regions which the flight serves.

Fine wine is at the center of American Airlines' premium service having won critical acclaim time after time. In fact, American was recently honored with Global Traveler’s annual “Wines on the Wing” awards, taking the top award for Best North American Wines on the Wing, Best North American Sparkling Wine and Best North American Red Wine.
American selects fine wines from the major wine growing regions of the world and, at any given time, has more than 60 wines available on its flights. Our wine consultant, Ken Chase, is a classically trained wine maker and viticulturist with an international reputation.
In an effort to bring customers the finest wines available in First and Business Class, American maintains 15 different wine lists, specially selected for various routes. In addition, American changes the wine list regularly and produces an online pamphlet describing each route's selections in detail.
