  • The deceased

When you travel with cremated remains, they will be treated as carry-on baggage. If you’re traveling domestically, you won’t need any special documents but as the rules vary internationally, please contact that country’s consulate and/or burial advisor.

Please note that certain crematory containers such as urns cannot be screened at the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) security checkpoint. If you’re traveling with such an item, our airport agents will check with TSA personnel whether you need to travel with your container as carry-on or checked baggage. Before you travel, check with a funeral home whether your particular container will have any difficulties at a TSA screening point.
