Speech Recognition Technology Makes Calling AA Easier

Calling American Airlines is now easier than ever. Now when you call, you will find enhanced features to help you keep tabs on your flight reservations.

Enhanced Voice Recognition Menu
Getting the information you need is only a "word" away! Our enhanced customer menu has added more intuitive keywords and features to allow you to simply ask for information rather than wait on a command menu. Then, the enhanced system will guide you through a couple of questions to get you to the right information quicker - saving you time. For example, if you want to get Flight Status information just say "Flight Info" or "Flight Information."

Here are a few examples of keywords the enhanced system will recognize at the main menu and various other points:

You don't have to remember these keywords - our helpful prompts will let you know what you can say and when. You can also say "help" when you need it.

New "Remember Me" Text Number
Remember Me customers, who call from an identifiable cell phone and have a flight departing in the next 23 hours, will automatically receive flight information via text without having to speak or answer any questions. It is the perfect solution when calling from locations with lots of background noise. Another benefit is the text can be referred to later. This feature is offered only via a special toll free number, 800-221-2000. For more information and for steps to enroll in Remember Me, click here.

"Text Me" Feature
“Text Me” is now offered on several of our toll free numbers, including our automated flight and gate information phone number, to customers calling from an identifiable cell phone. When calling our toll free reservations numbers, you must either be opted in to Remember Me or provide your AAdvantage number when prompted and have a flight departing in the next 23 hours to be offered this service. On the automated flight and gate information phone number, you can receive a text message for all flight information. We currently offer this feature to the following cell phone service providers:

  • AT&T
  • Boost
  • CellularOne
  • Cincinnati Bell
  • Nextel
  • Sprint
  • T-Mobile
  • US Cellular
  • Verizon
  • Virgin Mobile
