Having AAdvantage Platinum or AAdvantage Gold status can make all the difference to frequent travelers when they fly. To help make sure loyal elite status members don't miss out on another year of valuable benefits, American Airlines is offering a special opportunity for members who do not requalify for 2010.
Enjoy another full year of elite status by renewing your AAdvantage Platinum or AAdvantage Gold membership for a one-time fee, extending your status through February 28, 2011.
Two-Tiered Pricing
Members who have made more progress toward elite status requalification during 2009 will benefit from lower prices to extend their status. AAdvantage Platinum members who earn at least 40,000 elite qualifying miles or points (or 48 qualifying segments), and AAdvantage Gold members who earn at least 20,000 elite qualifying miles or points (or 24 qualifying segments) during 2009 qualify for lower prices.

Who's Eligible
All current AAdvantage Platinum and AAdvantage Gold members who earned their 2009 elite status^ are eligible to participate in this offer provided they have flown at least one elite qualifying segment during 2009. Members who participated in the 2009 offer are not eligible to extend their status for the 2010 membership year.
With this special offer, you'll continue to receive the many benefits you've come to enjoy as an American Airlines AAdvantage elite status frequent traveler.

Through this offer, eligible members may ensure their elite status remains valid through February 28, 2011.
Effective January 26, 2010, eligible AAdvantage members will have access to this offer via a link which will provide information on how to renew their AAdvantage elite status. This special offer will be available to members from January 26, 2010, through April 30, 2010.

^To earn 2009 AAdvantage Gold status, a member must have accrued 25,000 elite qualifying miles or points or flown 30 qualifying segments in 2008.
To earn 2009 AAdvantage Platinum status, a member must have accrued 50,000 elite qualifying miles or points or flown 60 qualifying segments in 2008.
*Upgrades must be requested by member prior to travel. To receive complimentary upgrades, AAdvantage Platinum and AAdvantage Gold members must be traveling to and from qualifying cities on fares booked in Y or B (excluding military/government fares). Complimentary upgrades are subject to seating limitations and are only available on American Airlines marketed and operated flights within and between the 50 United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, The Bahamas and Bermuda, and between the U.S. and Central America.
