1. Guides To Special Offers And Savings

Q:  Where do I find fare specials?
A:  On the home page, select "View All Offers" under the "Travel Deals" section.
Q:  Why is there no date in the Valid Return date column when I searched for fare sales?
A:  If there is no date in the Valid Return column, the fare is one way, and may be booked round trip anytime during the Valid Departure dates.
Q:  How do I find this week's Net SAAver Weekend Getaway Fares list?
A:  On the home page, select "View All Offers" under the Stay Informed section. The Net SAAver Weekend Getaways are available for purchase on Tuesday through Friday.
Q:  How do I subscribe to the Net SAAver Fares email list?
A:  You may subscribe to Net SAAver Fares by logging into Select 'Travel Deals' from the top navigation bar of the home page under Plan Travel. You may also access email options by selecting 'My Account' at the top of the home page. Select the 'Emails and Fare Alerts' tab. At this point you may subscribe or unsubscribe to the various email options.
Q:  How do I change my email address?
A:  Login to and select My Account under Plan Travel from the top navigation bar and then select the "Email and Fare Alerts" tab. You may edit your email address from the bottom of this page.
Q:  What are Fare Sales Alerts?
A:  Fare Sales Alerts contain several cities that are currently on sale (Fare Specials). To book one of these Fare Specials from the home page, look under the 'Travel Deals' section, and select the corresponding blue fare link next to the featured destination. To obtain a full list of our fare sales, select 'Travel Deals' under Plan Travel from the top navigation bar of the home page.
Q:  How can I be alerted when Fare Specials are offered to destinations I prefer?
A:  Login to and select 'My Account' at the top of the page. Select the 'My Emails and Fare Alerts' tab. Click 'Add New Alert Cities' under ' Fare Alerts' and submit each of your preferred departure and arrival city pairs. A maximum of 30 city pairs can be added to your preferred list. Click 'Submit' when you are finished adding your preferred city pairs.
Q:  How do I change my personal user Account preferences or credit card information?
A:  Login to and select 'My Account' at the top of the page. Select the 'Reservations Preferences tab.' Here you can edit your travel preferences and delete or add your credit card information. Click the 'Submit' button to enter your changes.
Q:  What if my cities don't come up in the 'Search All Fare Sales' search?
A:  If the cities that you entered do not appear in the Fare Sale information, a message will be displayed such as the following, 'Currently, there are no sale fares for the origin and/or destination you entered.' At this point, select "More Search Options" and you will have the option of selecting your flights by schedule or by price and schedule.
Q:  Why do I see the same city pairs (e.g., Chicago-Dallas) repeated in my Fare Sales Alerts? Why do the same city pairs have different prices?
A:  At any given time, there may be several sales affecting the same city pair, but with different travel dates or restrictions. Click the 'Restrictions' link next to the city pair to find out more about the specifics of the sale.
Q:  What if the dates listed for travel won't work for me?
A:  You can search for another airport that may offer a fare sale to your desired destination, or you may choose to make another reservation.
Q:  Can I book a one-way Net SAAver Fare?
A:  Yes. If a Net SAAver is allowed to be booked one way, the one-way option will display at the top of the booking page.

2. City / Airport Codes

Q:  I typed the city name / city code and didn't receive the correct city in the results.
A:  This function on will accommodate some phonetics spellings and give a list of results. If the city you are searching for is not in that result list, you may want to check the spelling or it may be a city that does not have any type of commercial air service.

3. DealFinder

Q:  What is American Airlines DealFinder?
A:  DealFinder is a downloadable desktop tool offered by American Airlines which allows you to receive automatic, personalized fare alerts and other information via your computer desktop. Once you download the tool and set your travel preferences, DealFinder will alert you about deals to your favorite destinations. By creating searches for your upcoming trips, DealFinder will also show you the current lowest prices and alert you when the price is at or below your target price. The application can also help you stay up to date with news, information and promotions from American Airlines.
Q:  Which countries are eligible to download and use DealFinder?
A:  All countries in the following regions are eligible to use DealFinder: North America, South America, Central America, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom.
Q:  I already have the original DealFinder, should I install DealFinder 2.0?
A:  Yes. DealFinder 2.0 is a completely new version of DealFinder. It has been redesigned from the ground up to give you more features that the original application. You should uninstall the original application before installing DealFinder 2.0.
Q:  I closed the DealFinder window by mistake. Where has it gone?
A:  For Microsoft Windows users, simply right click the AA icon in the system tray (this is next to your clock - for Windows 7 users you may have to click the up arrow to find the icon) to re-open the DealFinder window. For Mac users, simply right click the AA icon in your dock and choose "Open DealFinder".
Q:  How do I create a Search in DealFinder?

From the main DealFinder window, simply click the "Searches" menu item in the main menu along the top of the application. Then select one of the search types - Create One Way or Create Round Trip. Give your search a name and enter your origin and destination cities, travel dates, travel times, number of passengers, and your desired maximum price per person.

Q:  How many Saved Searches can I have at one time?
A:  You can have up to ten saved searches.
Q:  How do I edit my Search parameters?

From the main DealFinder window, click "EDIT" for the search you wish to update, and then change any information you have previously entered.

Q:  How do I edit my DealFinder profile?

From the main DealFinder window, simply click the "Settings" menu item and edit your profile settings on that screen.

Q:  I received a notice from DealFinder that my preferred fare was found, but when I tried to confirm the fare on, it shows as not available. Why can't I obtain the advertised DealFinder price?
A:  Please note that fares are based on availability and can quickly change due to the various methods of making a reservation, (AA Reservations, travel agencies, travel Web sites, etc). Every flight has a specified number of seats available to sell at different prices and once the lowest fare sells out, the next fare applies. Additionally, certain promotional fares may be introduced for a limited period, so depending on the amount of time that has passed between the time you received your DealFinder alert and when you tried to book your reservation online, the dates you initially specified could have sold out. Should you have difficulty finding the fare you received, please select alternate dates or if you need assistance, please Contact AA.
Q:  When does the DealFinder search for fares?
A:  As long as your computer is online, DealFinder will search for your fares several times throughout the day.
Q:  Can DealFinder alerts be sent to my cell phone or PDA?
A:  No. DealFinder alerts cannot be sent to your cell phone or PDA at this time.
Q:  What are the system requirements for DealFinder (Windows and Mac)?
A:  Windows
  • Intel® Pentium® III processor (Pentium 4 recommended)
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP Home, Professional, or Tablet PC Edition with Service Pack 2 or 3, Windows Server® 2003, Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (including 64-bit editions) with Service Pack 1, or Windows 7

Q:  If I download DealFinder, will it be used to track my online usage?
A:  No, DealFinder will not track your online usage.
Q:  How do I uninstall the DealFinder application?


For Windows-based systems, simply uninstall the DealFinder application as you would any Windows program by going to the Control Panel, selecting the Programs item, selecting the DealFinder application and hitting Uninstall.

Mac OS

Simply Drag the DealFinder icon from your applications folder to the Trash can.
