Electronic Travel Definition
AA Electronic tickets are the electronic production of flight
coupons. When the Electronic ticket option is used, all
other applicable documentation continues to print, such as
agent coupon/auditor coupon/charge form and passenger receipt.
The actual ticket is stored electronically in AA's database.
All AA Electronic tickets must be validated/plated on AA/001.
E-ticketing is valid on all American Airlines flights.
Codeshare flights therefore AA6000 and AA7000 series flight
numbers are not eligible for AA Electronic ticketing.
The itinerary may contain no more than 16 segments of
airspace for each ticket. An ARNK is considered to be a
segment. Open segments are allowed when the itinerary
contains at least 1 confirmed segment
The American Eagle bus service between ORD and RFD is not
eligible for Electronic ticketing.

Changes To An Electronic Ticket
Date changes: If there is a date change to a nett or published fare, then travel agents should issue an exchange
ticket and take the appropriate additional collection as per the fare rules. This additional
collection should show on the exchange coupon.
A change in the itinerary does not automatically update the
Electronic ticket record in Sabre. The Electronic ticket
record must always be updated through the exchange process.

Electronic To Paper (Paper Ticket Fee)
Paper ticket fee introduced to Europe
American Airlines has introduced a GBP25/EUR25 fee to travel
agencies in the European countries to which it operates, who
wish to issue paper tickets to customers travelling on
itineraries which are eligible for an Electronic ticket
(E-ticket). The move follows other airlines that have
introduced similar fees.
Effective immediately, the fee applies in Belgium, France,
Italy, Spain and the UK. The fee does not apply if a
customer is travelling on an itinerary that is not E-ticket
eligible and therefore has to use a paper ticket.
The fee shall encourage customers to use the convenient and
secure E-ticket solution. Today, more than 90 percent of all
American Airlines customers worldwide already travel by
using E-tickets. Since E-tickets can be neither lost nor stolen, customers do
not have to worry about this anymore. Additionally,
E-tickets mean a significant reduction of administrative
workload and costs to your agency.
To collect the paper ticket fee (PTF) agents are required to
follow the procedure below:
- Issue a non-refundable MCO
- Cross reference the ticket and the MCO
- On the MCO, the "type of service" box has to be filled
out with "001 PTF paper ticket fee".
- Paper ticket numbers must be placed in the endorsement box
on the MCO.
Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the
MPD are subject to a debit memo.
The MPD must be reported in the same reporting period as the
referenced paper tickets.
American Airlines paper ticket fees apply to all E-ticket
eligible paper tickets as follows:

Voids
Voids must be processed by close of business on the same
day that the ticket was issued.
Should a void not be processed in a timely manner, the
customer will have both a paper ticket and an Electronic
ticket at check-in. Airport customer service will collect
the paper ticket but the computer programmatically
marks the Electronic ticket as *used*. This will result in
an unreported sale.

A maximum of one electronic ticket may be voided at a time.
If multiple tickets must be voided, a separate void entry
must be entered for each ticket.
