Overview

The oneworld alliance consists of the following airlines and their affiliates:

The Oneworld Explorer Fare is a flexible fare product offered by the carriers of the oneworld alliance to allow the straightforward construction and competitive pricing of round-the-world itineraries. Fares are based on the number of continents passed through.

Reservations/Ticketing

  • Reservations for the first international flight and all preceding flights are required as outlined in the charts below. All other segments may be open.

  • Tickets must be issued as outlined in the charts below.

    Travel Originates in Area 1:
    Reservations for the first international flight and all preceding flights are required at least 7 days before departure of the first flight. Subsequent segments may be open. Tickets must be issued at least 7 days before the first flight. Effective 10 october 2003, the following new restrictions will apply:

    For reservations made X or more days before departure the ticket must be issued within X days after the reservation is made. Replace X with the number of days as per the following table:

    Travel Originates in Area 2/3
    Reservations for the first international flight and all preceding flights may be made any time prior to departure of the first flight. Subsequent segments may be open. tickets may be issued up to one hour prior to departure. effective 10 October 2003 the following new restrictions will apply. For reservations made X or more days before departure the ticket must be issued within X days after the reservation is made. Replace X with the number of days as per the following table.

  • Tickets must be issued on the ticket stock of AA/AY/BA/CX/EI/IB/LA//LP/QF

  • The endorsement box of the original and reissued ticket must show - valid only on AA/AY/BA/CX/EI/IB/LA/LP/QF

  • In certain cases when a ticket is purchased outside the country of origin of the itinerary, a special pricing procedure known as a currency of payment check must be performed. This sometimes results in the ticket having to be handwritten.

  2. Origin-destination surface permitted:*

    • Within country of origin.
    • Within Africa
    • Within the Middle East
    • Between HKG-China,
    • Between Bangladesh and BKK/SIN
    • Within South America and
    • Between Malaysia and SIN.
    *(Please note, US and Canada are considered the same country.
    Denmark, Norway and Sweden are considered the same country.)

  3. Fares apply only if purchased prior to departure from point of origin.
  4. For tickets issued on/before 30JUN05, travel not permitted on CX flights between Hong Kong and Vietnam.
  5. For tickets issued on/after 01JUL05, travel not permitted on CX between Hong Kong and Hanoi.
  6. Cuba Travel Restriction:
    If a ticket includes travel to/from/via Cuba it may not also include flight segments for travel on American Airlines or American Eagle due to U.S. government restrictions. Any such ticket will not be honoured by American Airlines and cannot be used to travel on American Airlines.

Definition of Continents

The fare to be charged is determined by the number of continents in the itinerary (including continent of origin). The continents and the countries contained therein are defined as:

Central America, Panama
South America All of South America (excluding Panama)
Europe/Middle east All of Europe (including Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia)
All of Middle East (including Egypt, Sudan)
Africa All of Africa
(excluding Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia)
Asia All of Asia (excluding the Southwest Pacific)
Southwest Pacific All of Southwest Pacific
