Upgrades
Any Economy oneworld explorer fare may be upgraded to
First/Business class oneworld explorer fares without
penalty. Business class oneworld Explorer fares may be
upgraded to a First class oneworld explorer fare without
penalty. The passenger pays the fare difference (and any
difference in tax) only.
A oneworld explorer ticket cannot be partially upgraded to
a higher class. The whole ticket must be upgraded from the
point of origin.
A oneworld explorer ticket may be upgraded to a full
mileage round-the-world fare. (i.e to regular
published fares used for the whole of a round-the-world
itineary) without penalty. The passenger pays the fare
difference (and any difference in tax) only. The reissued
ticket must be endorsed 'NONREF/XXX' where XXX indicates
the oneworld explorer fare basis code. This indicates that
if the upgraded ticket is subsequently cancelled, the amount
of the original 10 percent penalty on the explorer fare
(if the penalty is applicable) remains nonrefundable.
A oneworld Explorer fare may be used as credit towards the
payment of any higher fare type from the point of origin
provided the rules of the higher fare type have been met.
Again the ticket must be endorsed 'NONREF/XXX'.
AA AAdvantage mileage upgrade awards permitted on AA sectors.
