Definition - What is codeshare?

An interline partnership where one carrier markets service and places its code on another carrier's flights. This offers carriers an opportunity to provide service to destinations not in their route structure. These schedules are considered on-line bookings for most situations. An exception could be the minimum connecting time (MCT) which is sometimes equal to the off-line connection time.

Codeshare standby policy

The stand-by policy has changed for codeshare ticketed passengers. The passenger may stand by only for the same operating carrier on which they are ticketed. For example, if the customer is ticketed on an AA* marketed flights operated by AS, they may stand by only for another AS operated flight. They may not stand by for an AA prime flight. If ticketed for AA prime flight, they may not stand by for an AA* marketed flight operated by another carrier. This restriction is due to ticketing, PNR, automation and revenue accounting issues.
