Lighters and Matches
Lighters will no longer be allowed in carry-on baggage or in
checked luggage per TSA guidelines.*
Up to 4 books of safety matches will still be allowed in carry on baggage.
*Zippo lighters conforming to specific DOT regulations can be transported in
checked baggage for Domestic travel only. (Please see below for DOT regulation
information).
Zippo DOT Regulation Information
On June 23, 2005, the Department of Transportation (DOT) granted an emergency
exemption to the Zippo Manufacturing Co. that allows passengers to pack up to
two fueled Zippo lighters in checked luggage. The lighter must be placed in
the DOT-approved packaging and only two packages are permitted in checked baggage.
The packaging is a vapor-tight plastic box that can accommodate a single Zippo
lighter. Per the emergency exemption, approved packages must be clearly marked with
"Lighter in this packaging conforms to DOT-E 14194 and may be transported in checked
baggage by Domestic passenger aircraft" to signify their compliance with the
DOT regulations, which will also enable TSA screeners to easily identify them
during screening.

Paint Guns
Recreational paint guns without the CO2 cartridge are
accepted as checked baggage as the paint is non-toxic and
not considered hazardous material.
For international travel, it is recommended that the
passenger advise the airport agent if they are carrying the
paint gun, as it appears to be a real firearm when passing through
U.K. X-ray.
Carry-on is not allowed for recreational paint guns as
security confiscates all items that resemble firearms
whether harmless or not.
Non-recreational paint guns are not permitted either as
checked or carry-on due to the possible hazardous nature
of commercial paints.
