Age (Definition of terms)
- For fare application purposes, the age of infant/child is
based on the age at commencement of travel.
- For UMNR (Unaccompanied Minors) purposes, the age is based on
the actual travel date.

Infant (Definition of terms)
- A child 2 days old is accepted for travel, however 7 days
is recommended. A medical certificate may be required up
to 7 days after birth.
- A child less than 2 days old will not be accepted.
- Definition of infant: a child older than 7 days that has not
yet reached its' second birthday, that is accompanied by an
adult passenger 15 years or older, and who does not occupy a
confirmed seat.
- The infant must be held by an adult passenger 15 years or
older. On international flights, a seat will be reserved for
the return trip if the child turns 2 years old prior to the
commencement of the return trip, without paying the child's
fare.
Seating (For infant paying 10% of adult fare)
- Must be held by an adult (15 years or older)
- No pre-reserved seat
- No regular meal provided
- Only one infant per seat grouping (for oxygen mask use)
per adult fare paying passenger.

- Entitled to pre-reserved seat (except exit seat)

Accompanied Children (Definition of Terms)
- A child older than 7 days that has not reached the 12th
birthday, occupying a seat travelling with an adult 15 years
or older in the same cabin on the same flight.

Unaccompanied children (Definition of terms)
- A child between the age of 5 and 14 years old travelling
alone or with other children aged 5-14 years old.
- Children 5-14 years old must travel as unaccompanied minors
(UMNR) unless they are escorted by a companion who is at
least 15 years old. This change is effective systemwide
for new bookings on 16 Oct 2002.
- UMNR service will still be optional for young adults
aged 15 through 17 years.

- Assign window seat, preferably in rows at the rear
end of the cabin.

Adult (Definition of Terms)
- Fare paying passenger 12 years old or older.
(Note: Effective Oct 15, 2002 UMNR service will be required
for children aged 5 through 14).
- The service charge applies when requested for young adults
age 15 - 17 on all AA flights.
- Children travelling to an international destination are
required to travel with necessary documents, such as passport/visa unless otherwise specified.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective for reservations made on or after June 2, 2007, American Airlines, American Eagle Airlines and American
Connection will no longer accept UMNRs when their itinerary includes a connection to or from another airline.
This is in response to feedback from airport staff regarding the challenges and customer service issues associated with the
handling of UMNRs connecting to or from other airlines.
We will continue to accept connecting UMNRs for on-line connections to/from American Airlines, American Eagle Airlines,
and American Connection flights.

For young adults ages 15 - 17 years, the UMNR service is optional. However, if requested, all UMNR requirement apply.

Infant fare**
(U.S. and Canada to/from Central and South America, Transatlantic and Transpacific):
- 10 percent of the lowest applicable adult fare applies per infant, unless
the fare rule states otherwise. (Note: Infant fare at 10% of the adult fare applies to infant seated on accompanying adult's lap)
- If the adult fare is an AAdvantage/Promotional upgrade or AAdvantage/Promotional free F/J class
award, the infant pays 10 percent of the fare for the
cabin they are travelling in. (Seated on adults lap)
- All rules of the fare apply.
NOTE:
A maximum of 4 children at the child fare (per adult) is allowed, between the
United States, Puerto Rico/U.S. Virgin Islands/Canada
and Mexico/Caribbean/Latin America, South America. There is
no limit for Europe and Japan.

For Unaccompanied Children
Note: All Unaccompanied children (regardless of age) are charged adult fare
AND the Unaccompanied Minor's service fee. Please be also reminded that UMNRs are not accepted
on the last connecting flight of the day.

UMNR SERVICE AND CHARGES

American Airlines UMNR Service
- Child will be attended by AA personnel at all times.
At check-in the UMNR receives an information card in a ticket pouch.
The UMNR will be pre-boarded on flights/introduced to flight attendants.
- Online connection:
The UMNR will be escorted to the gate or to a special service office for gate
escort if the flight is not departing immediately.
- Arrival:
The UMNR will be accompanied by AA personnel to the meeting party -
including through customs if applicable.
- UMNR connecting at Miami Airport (MIA):
AA/American Eagle/AmericanConnection will no longer accept UMNR's
travelling from any domestic or international city that includes the last on-line connection
through or via MIA. This applies for passengers aged 8-14. Passengers aged 12-17 are considered
young adults by U.S. Immigration and will be discouraged from travel due to possible
immigration/customs delays. However, AA will accept the UMNR if it is the only
scheduled flight and it only connects to the last flight of the day.
- UMNR connecting at Chicago Airport (ORD):
AA will no longer accept UMNR's travelling on wholly domestic
itineraries that include the last on-line connection through
or via Chicago. This applies to all passengers aged 8-14
and 15-17 when special assistance is requested. The exception
to this rule is if part of the travel is on an international flight.

UMNR Service Fee
Simplified Unaccompanied Minor Service Charge
Effective May 21, 2008, the unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) Service Charge for all domestic
and international travel, non-stop, through or connection travel will change to
USD100.00 each way.**
Payment of UMNR fees are collected upon check-in at board point one-way, from
origination city to stopover and / or destination city on the date of departure. The fee is
collected on outbound and return flights.
For travel on or after May 21, 2008, the UMNR Service Charge will be:
- USD100.00 each way for all domestic, international, non-stop, through or connection
travel.
- UMNR Age requirements have not changed.
**Exception:
For customers who made their reservation and purchased their ticket prior to May 21, 2008,
and are paying their UMNR service charge on day of departure - the pre-May 21, 2008 fees
apply (below):

Application
- Fees apply per UMNR unless two or more are booked/ticketed and traveling together (then one
charge is collected.)
- UMNR service fee is required for children ages 5 - 14 years
travelling alone. This fee is not optional.
- Service charge applies (when requested) for young adults aged 15 - 17 on all AA flights.
- UMNR service fee is collected each way from originating board point to stopover or
destination. (A stopover is a deliberate interruption of a journey at an intermediate point from
which the passenger is not scheduled to depart within four hours of arrival (domestic connections) or
within 24 hours of arrival (international connections)).
- If fee is not used, it is refundable to original form of payment.
- UMNR traveling on YCATX/QCATX fares are exempt from service charge.
- The UMNR charge applies per one-way trip.
- Ages 8 - 14 not accepted on co-terminal
- Multiple charges for roundtrip may be collected at one time when entire itinerary is on AA.
- Advise caller that name, address, home/business phone number of person meeting child, must be
given to airport check-in agent. Person picking up child must present photo identification to AA
agent to pick up child.
- May pay in advance at ATO/travel center or agency. Receipt or miscellaneous charge order (MCO)
must be presented at check-in. TDS is not allowed. Prepaid ticket advise /PTA/ okay.

Overview
When an infant is travelling on American Airlines, the PNR name field should be documented to include
the title INF with first name. OSI field should include the infant's age. Please cross reference
the infant and adult PNRs if they are booked separately.
Sticker and mileage upgrades do not apply and mileage accrual does not apply to infant passengers

Child turns two during trip (Travel wholly on AA only)
To confirm a child who has turned two years old after travel
has commenced, please follow guidelines below:
- Create separate reservation for return flight. Confirm
infant in accompanying adult inventory. If the inventory
is not available, book in the lowest inventory within same
cabin.
- Manually store the fare.
There is no charge for infants who turn 2 years for the
return.
- Cross reference with adult PNR.
- Indicate the PNR has been ticketed

Infant Amenity Kits
Provided for international flagship service (IFS), First
and Business passengers. They contain:
- 1 diaper
- 1 diaper changing sheet
- 1 diaper disposal bag
- 2 alcohol free baby wipes.

Baby Meals
Effective January 1, 2002: provisions for infants/babies
are no longer offered on either domestic or
international service.
Baby bottles/food cannot be heated and cooled on any aircraft due to risk of cross contamination.

Complimentary Bassinets
Overview
- Bassinets may be requested at check-in on a first come first served basis for specific flights and are available for use in the main cabin and first row of Business Class only.
- One bulkhead wall mountable bassinet should be onboard all 3 class 777 aircraft and all 2 class 767 aircraft. The bassinet remains onboard as part of the equipment. Bassinets cannot be pre-requested before day of travel.
- The infant must be held during take-off and landing and at all other times when seat belt sign is on.
- The maximum weight for an infant using a bassinet is 35 pounds.
Availability
- Please inform passengers that bassinets are subject to availability on a first come first served basis.
Description and cost of bassinets
- Bulkhead Wall-Mounted Bassinets
The wall mountable bassinet is constructed of a metal frame covered by a blue cloth with a plastic pad enclosed in the cover. During the flight, the bassinet is attached into fittings installed on the bulkhead wall. It may however be used elsewhere in the cabin by placing it on the floor or in
two available non-exit seats. Cost: Wall-Mounted - Complimentary.

Children aged 5 years + 1 month can travel alone on BA direct flights availing of the UMNR Service.
Children aged 6 years + 2 weeks can travel alone on multi-sector flights availing of the UMNR Service.
Children aged between 12 and 18 years are considered young passengers and can travel alone or request the UMNR Service (not compulsory). |

Children aged between 0 and 5 years cannot travel alone.
Children aged between 6 and 11 years can travel alone availing of the UMNR Service
Children aged between 12 and 15 years can travel alone and avail of the UMNR Service (not compulsory).

A maximum of 6 UMNRs are accepted per flight: children aged between 5 and 11 years
can travel alone on all flights except
those which involve overnight stays or the last connection of the day. |
| Malév (MA) |
Children between 2 and 4 years must be accompanied by a flight attendant: an escort air ticket must be purchased plus a
UMNR fee must be paid.
Children between 12 - 15 years: escort service is optional for this age group. If desired, the fee will apply as well as the purchase of an escort ticket.

| Iberia (IB) |
Effective November 15, 2004 IB and affiliates (Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum) will
ONLY accept UMNR passengers on IB and affiliate itineraries. IB will not offer
UMNR service between IB and other airlines. This includes oneworld partners and codeshare partners.
The following procedures apply when travel is soley on Iberia Airlines and Air Nostrum:
3 - 4 years: will require escort service. This service must be requested 4 days in advance for domestic flights and 8 days in
advance for international flights. The escort service price will be any adult fare valid for the minor plus a full fare
(one way) for the escort.
5 - 7 years: accepted only on non-stop/through flights operated by IB and affiliates.
8 - 11 years: accepted on all flights operated by IB and affiliates only. Connecting flights must operate same day.
UMNR service is mandatory for UMNRs through 11 years old.
May never overnight at an airport unless accompanied by a hostess.
12 - 17 years: UMNR service is optional, but is mandatory for this age group when travel is to the U.S.

| Lan Airlines S.A. (LA) |
Effective August 11, 2003 LAN Airlines S.A. (LA) and affiliates (LP Lan Peru and XL Lanecuador) will ONLY accept UMNR
passengers on LAN Airlines S.A. and affiliate itineraries.
The following procedures apply when travel is soley on LAN Airlines S.A. and affiliates:
5 - 7 years: UMNRs accepted only on non-stop/through flights operated by LA and affiliates.
Not accepted on overnight itineraries.
8 - 14 years: a UMNR fee applies for this service which will have a cost for each segment.
Accepted on all flights operated by LA and affiliates. Not accepted on overnight itineraries.
This service is mandatory for UMNRs up to 11 years old. Between the ages of 12 - 14 the service is optional.
12 - 17 years: UMNR Service (fee applicable) is mandatory for this age group when travel is to the U.S.

Under 5 years: not accepted.
5 - 6 years: accepted on domestic flights, accepted only on through or non-stop international flights under 6 hours.
7 - 11 years: accepted on all flights. 4 hours maximum connecting time allowed to/from Qantas flight.
12 - 14 years: may be considered UMNR on request.
