American Airlines has recently announced that it will cancel its Brussels (BRU)-Chicago (ORD) service, effective 7th November. The airline has taken the difficult decision to cancel the route in light of high oil prices and the weakened global economy, which has affected travel demand and the route's performance.
The cancellation of American's Brussels to Chicago service is regrettable but the U.S carrier will continue to serve the Belgian market via its daily year-round nonstop service to New York JFK, as well as in conjunction with oneworld partners British Airways and Iberia. American will contact customers due to fly after the cancellation date to make alternative arrangements or offer a full refund. We apologise for the inconvenience this decision will cause.”
