TSA Secure Flight Information

Since August 15, 2009, American Airlines has collected and transmitted Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As the TSA moves into the next phase of the program, all passengers traveling November 1, 2010, and beyond within the U.S. and its territories must have SFPD in their reservation at least 72 hours prior to departure.

In compliance with this mandate you will be required to provide Secure Flight Passenger Data:

  • To purchase any ticket on or after September 15, 2010
  • To check in online on or after October 23, 2010 (Online Check-In is not available to passengers who require a visa for their travel)
  • To travel November 1, 2010, or later regardless of purchase date

Without providing the following information you will be unable to travel.

  • Full Name (first, middle and last name, as it appears on the non-expired government-issued photo ID that you will use when traveling)
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Redress Number (if applicable)

You will need to provide Secure Flight Passenger Data:

  • If it was not provided when you made your reservation
  • For reservations made prior to adding SFPD to your AAdvantage account profile
  • For any reservations made through a source other than AA.com or AA Reservations

Adding Secure Flight Passenger Data To An Existing Reservation

If you have reservations for travel on or after November 1, 2010, you need to provide your SFPD at least 72 hours prior to departure.

You may also contact American Airlines Reservations to update your future reservations with Secure Flight Passenger Data. However if you add it to your AAdvantage account profile, well add the SFPD automatically when you make reservations through American Airlines in the future.

Without the TSA mandated Secure Flight Passenger Data in your reservation, you will not be able to travel.

How will my information be kept private?

TSA will collect the minimum amount of personal information necessary to conduct effective watch list matching. Additionally, personal data will be collected, used, distributed, stored and disposed of in accordance with stringent guidelines and all applicable privacy laws and regulations.
