How to Apply for a Visa
Residents of China may apply for a non-immigrant visa at any U.S. Consular Section in China, regardless of the province or city of residence. We have Consular Sections at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and the U.S. Consulates General in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenyang.
Although the basic application process is the same, specific times and application procedures at each visa issuing office can vary. Before applying for a visa, applicants should check each post's web site for procedures specific to that post.

Required Passenger Information
TSA Secure Flight Information
As a result of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Secure Flight Program, all passengers travelling or connecting in the United States will need to supply Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) to American Airlines at least 72 hours prior to departure.
In compliance with this mandate Secure Flight Passenger Data will need to be included in:
- All bookings made on or after September 15, 2010 regardless of date of travel
- All bookings checked in online on or after October 23, 2010 (Online Check-In is not available to passengers who require a visa for their travel)
- All bookings for travel on November 01, 2010 or later regardless of purchase date
This rule applies to all bookings, including those made at AA.com or through a travel agency or an online booking agent. The TSA allows for no exceptions; data compliance is mandatory.
You will be unable to travel without providing the following information:
- Full name (as it appears on your passport)
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Redress Number (if applicable)*
Adding Secure Flight Passenger Data To An Existing Reservation
If you have reservations for travel on or after November 1, 2010, you need to provide your SFPD at least 72 hours prior to departure.
You may also contact American Airlines Reservations to update your future reservations with Secure Flight Passenger Data. However if you add it to your AAdvantage account profile, well add the SFPD automatically when you make reservations through American Airlines in the future.
Without the TSA mandated Secure Flight Passenger Data in your reservation, you will not be able to travel.
How will my information be kept private?
Privacy of individuals' personal information is an integral part of the Secure Flight program. TSA will collect the minimum amount of personal information necessary to conduct effective watch list matching. Additionally, personal data will be collected, used, distributed, stored and disposed of in accordance with stringent guidelines and all applicable privacy laws and regulations.
