Overview

Direct access provides travel agents with a direct link to the reservations system and flight inventory of American Airlines. Using standard CRS inputs with a simple prefix, you can obtain immediate up to date information on the availability of seats, flight information and seat maps for American Airlines. This enables you to book up to the last seat available on a particular flight and receive immediate guaranteed confirmation.

Additionally, since April 97 and based on an agreement between American Airlines and CRS, subscribers are able to take over responsibility for PNR's which were originally created and booked by American in SABRE: this function is called "Claim PNR".

To check which direct access functionality is available for AA at any time, please look up 'direct access' in your CRS help pages

Claim PNR

This functionality allows you to take over responsibility of a PNR which was originally created and booked by AA in SABRE.

Once you have claimed responsibility for the PNR, you can update it as you would any retrieved PNR.

Claiming a PNR consists of two steps:
  • The initial step causes the PNR to be displayed in its original format. At this point, the PNR is still the responsibility of AA.
  • The second step consists of performing and end of transaction entry. This transfers the responsibility for the PNR from AA to your agency.
