Changing Account Information

Mileage Posting
For travel on American Airlines your AAdvantage mileage information is updated within 15 days from the date of travel. Postings for promotions and other AAdvantage participants are updated every 30 days. Bonus miles for some offers are posted after the promotional period ends. Check the individual offer details for specific information. To request mileage credit that hasn't been posted, go to AA.com U.S. and select 'AAdvantage' from the side menu and then 'Request Mileage Credit.' This page also contains information on where to send mileage credit requests for non-airline participants such as hotels, car hires, and special service. Provide your AAdvantage number and your ticket receipt number for American Airlines mileage credit.

Note: All requests submitted online or via phone options apply only to American Airlines flights ticketed on American Airlines ticket stock (American Airlines ticket numbers are 13 digits and begin with 001). It does not apply for participant airlines, or American Airlines flights ticketed on another carrier's ticket stock.

Note:
For all requests submitted via post or fax, be sure to include your AAdvantage number plus a day and evening phone number where you can be reached. Please allow thirty days for mileage to post to your account. Remember when travelling on an eligible-fare ticket for an eligible flight on American Airlines, its affiliates, or any AAdvantage participant, be sure to provide your AAdvantage number prior to taking your flight in order to receive credit. Any request for mileage not credited to your account must be requested within 12 months of the activity. Activity prior to your enrolment date is not eligible for mileage credit. Allow up to 30 days for miles to be posted to your account.

AAdvantage Promotions
American Airlines uses a variety of ways to promote specials. You may be able to view them via AA.com Italy or you may have received it by post or via an email from American Airlines or received information from our participants such as hotels, car hires, and special services.

Many AAdvantage promotions require registration prior to participating in the promotional offer. To register for an AAdvantage promotion, login with your AAdvantage number and valid password. Go to 'AAdvantage' and click on 'AAdvantage Bonus Offers' or by calling AAdvantage Customer Service.

Using AAdvantage Miles
For your convenience, American Airlines is no longer issuing paper award certificates for AAdvantage award travel. Now whenever you are ready to redeem your miles, you can make a reservation for award travel by calling AAdvantage Customer Service. If you are currently holding a paper award certificate, all certificates for AAdvantage award travel can be redeemed for ticketing at an American Airlines airport ticket counter or travel centre. The certificate must be presented by the AAdvantage member or by the passenger named on the certificate. Certificates can also be exchanged for tickets through American Airlines Ticket Delivery Service. For more information, please contact AAdvantage Customer Service.

Once ticketed, you will have one year from the date of ticketing to fly, unless otherwise stated. AAdvantage mileage will be reinstated for unused and unexpired award tickets upon return of the ticket and payment of a processing fee. Only mileage that has not expired will be reinstated. Award reservations may be made between 1 and 331 days in advance. In order to avoid expedite fees, you will need to make your reservation at least 21 days in advance.

Fees
Award reservations ticketed within 21 days of departure will incur a $50 or $100 award fee for the first award plus $25 for each additional award, regardless of when the reservation is placed on hold. Please contact AAdvantage Customer Service for additional information regarding award fees. Changes to your award ticket may result in a $150 fee. All award bookings are subject to a security service fee that will be collected on tickets issued for passengers boarding at an airport in the US, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and US territories and possessions. The $5.60 security service fee applies per boarding, with a maximum of two boardings ($11.20) per one-way trip or four boardings ($22.40) per round-trip. International award tickets are subject to, and the passenger is responsible for, applicable departure taxes and/or federal inspection fees. Earning Miles with Hotels
To receive mileage credit when paying an eligible rate at a participating location, just remember to provide your AAdvantage number when you make your reservation or when you check-in. In order to receive credit, you must reserve the room in your name and stay overnight. Only one member per room will be credited with AAdvantage miles. If your hotel participates in the AAdvantage Incentive Miles programme, they will either issue a voucher to you or send credit electronically. If you receive a voucher, please complete the required information and then mail it to the address on the voucher. After the voucher is received, your mileage will be posted within eight weeks. If the mileage is electronically submitted, please allow up to eight weeks from the transaction date for your mileage to post. The amount of miles awarded varies from each hotel company. Generally, mileage is awarded per stay, or per US dollar spent on qualifying stays. Contact the participating hotel directly if you have any questions about earning or the posting of AAdvantage miles to your account.

Note: Some participating hotels may have additional requirements in order to accrue AAdvantage miles.

Earning Miles with Car Hires
When you are hiring a car from an AAdvantage programme participant, it is not necessary to purchase an airline ticket in order to earn AAdvantage miles. Your mileage credit should be automatically posted within 30 days of the car hire if your AAdvantage number was provided at the time of booking or pickup. The amount of miles awarded varies from each car hire company. Generally, mileage is awarded per day, or per US dollar spent on qualifying hires. Contact the participating car hire company directly with questions concerning mileage accrual.

Earning Miles with AAdvantage Dining
You can register up to three credit cards or where applicable, debit cards, with the AAdvantage Dining programme. Then, when you use the card at participating restaurants, you earn ten AAdvantage miles for every US dollar you spend. Mileage credit is limited to once per participating restaurant per calendar month, with a limit of 6,000 miles per visit. Earning Miles with American Airlines Vacations
You can earn AAdvantage miles for traveling on select American Airlines Vacations packages*. To receive mileage credit, just remember to provide your AAdvantage number when you make your reservation with American Airlines Vacations. If mileage from an eligible American Airlines Vacations package has not been posted, please contact American Airlines Vacations directly.
