Online Check-In

Online Check-In is available from the convenience of your home or the office saving you time at the airport. You can check in online* using your name and booking reference, or by simply logging into your AAdvantage account. If you are flying from Milan or Rome, you can check in online if the first flight in your itinerary is operated by American Airlines, British Airways or Iberia.

You can also request to have your boarding pass sent directly to your mobile phone, eliminating the need for paper. Find out more about Mobile Boarding Passes and which airports currently offer this option.

Please note that if you are travelling with infants you will only be able to check in at the airport check-in desks.

International Flights

• You can check in online between 2 to 24 hours prior to the departure of your international flight

U.S. Domestic Flights

• When flying within the U.S., including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Online Flight Check-In is available anytime between 1 and 24 hours prior to departure

Self-Service Check-In

Our airport Self-Service Check-In machines offer a quick and convenient way to check in, select a seat, check bags, get a boarding pass and obtain an electronic receipt. Please note that Self-Service Check-In will not be available at Rome Fiumicino Airport between 12 November 2011 and 3 April 2012.

• For international flights you must check in at least 60 minutes before departure
• Check the list of worldwide cities and locations where we currently have Self-Service machines

U.S. Domestic Flights

• When travelling within the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands you must check in for your flight at least 30 minutes before departure.
  The following exceptions apply in some U.S. airports

Ticket Counter Check-In

If you require special assistance, are travelling with infants/pets or you would like the help of an AA check-in agent then please use our airport ticket counters.
Please note that American Airlines ticket counter at Rome Fiumicino Airport will be closed between 12 November 2011 and 3 April 2012.

International Flights
