Membership Period:

The membership year, lasts from March 1 through the final day of February of the following year.

Elite Status Dates

Here are some examples of this elite qualification timeline:

  • If you earn 25,000 elite qualifying points or miles on July 31, 2010 your AAdvantage Gold Membership is good through February 29, 2012
  • If you earn 25,000 elite qualifying points or miles on January 31, 2010 your AAdvantage Gold Membership is good through February 29, 2012

Since you begin receiving elite benefits immediately upon qualification, the beginning of your membership year is the day you qualify for your elite level. Then, on March 1, every elite member's year starts over.

If you are an AAdvantage Gold or AAdvantage Platinum member, you earn four 500-mile upgrades for every 10,000 qualifying miles flown during your membership year. The mileage counters that are used to determine the number of 500-mile upgrades earned are re-set to zero every March 1.
