AMERICAN AIRLINES’ PINK-RIBBON BOEING 777 ARRIVES AT ITS FIRST INTERNATIONAL DESTINATION - NARITA
Co-branded Aircraft Carries Breast Cancer Message First to Japan and Then Globally
TOKYO - An American Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft decorated with a special pink-ribbon motif landed at Narita International Airport for the first time today, September 16th, at approximately 1:30 p.m.
American Airlines, the worlds largest airline, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest breast cancer organization, have co-branded eight aircraft with the Komen for the Cure pink-ribbon motif. The Boeing 777, which landed at Narita today, is the final aircraft and only 777 decorated with the pink ribbon, a symbol intended to raise awareness of breast cancer. Demonstrating American Airlines’; commitment to fighting the disease globally, the aircraft is scheduled to fly subsequently to destinations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
The pink-ribbon Boeing 777 arrived at Narita today at around 1:30 p.m. as flight AA175 from Dallas-Fort Worth. The aircraft will leave Japan this afternoon as flight AA170 to Los Angeles and moving forward, integrated into Americans global international network.
The eight co-branded planes are part of the recently expanded partnership between American Airlines and Komen. American Airlines is Komen’s official airline, first-ever Lifetime Promise Partner and premier contributor of Komen’s new category of grants - Promise Grants.
American Airlines supports a range of activities tocombat breast cancer and will host a media gathering in mid-October to officially present the liveried aircraft in its global commitment to raise awareness about the disease.
About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested more than $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
