American Airlines To Operate Additional Flights To Brazil During Peak Winter Travel Season
Seasonal Nonstops Between New York and Rio de Janeiro Highlight Additions
FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines will add several new flights to Brazil for the upcoming winter travel season, including four weekly nonstops between New York City and Rio de Janeiro. The New York-Rio nonstop flights are in addition to American’s previously announced plans to add three new destinations to Brazil in early November.
American will operate four weekly nonstop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Rio de Janeiro from Dec. 19, 2008, through Feb. 28, 2009, using widebody Boeing 767-300 aircraft configured with 30 seats in Business Class and 195 seats in the Main Cabin.
In addition, American will operate a fourth daily nonstop flight between Miami and Sao Paulo from Dec. 18, 2008, through Jan. 30, 2009, also using a Boeing 767-300. This will give American 28 weekly nonstop flights between Miami and Sao Paulo during the winter season.
Finally, American plans to operate one additional weekly flight between Miami and Belo Horizonte from Dec. 21, 2008, through Feb. 23, 2009, with a Boeing 767-300. Service to Belo Horizonte, a new destination for American, starts Nov. 4 with three weekly flights. Service will increase to four a week for the winter travel season.
“Brazil is a popular destination, particularly during the winter travel season, so we’re pleased to add more flights to our schedule,” said Peter J. Dolara, American’s Senior Vice President – Miami, Caribbean and Latin America. “Between service to our new destinations starting in November, and additional seasonal flights to our existing destinations, American Airlines has Brazil covered like no other U.S. airline.”
