LIQUID/GEL CARRY-ON BAGGAGE RESTRICTIONS

Security advice to customers - CARRY-ON BAGGAGE RESTRICTIONS

If you'll be traveling - or returning - to the United States, we want to be sure that you have all the necessary information to ensure a smooth trip. You may take limited quantities of liquids, gels and aerosols in their cabin bag including travel-size toiletries. Please be familiar with the following liquid/gel carry-on baggage restrictions.

Only the following liquids/gels are allowed in passenger hand luggage:
  • Small quantities of liquids permitted in hand luggage provided they are submitted separately for inspection at security check points.
  • These liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each. The containers must be packed in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag that is equivalent to 1ltr (34 fl oz) capacity per passenger. All liquids, gels and aerosols in containers larger than the above must be packed in checked baggage.
  • Baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is travelling.
  • For diabetic passengers, up to 5 ounces of liquid/ gel medications or juice to address their medical condition.

Liquids purchased from the secure concourse may NOT be brought on the aircraft.

Duty Free purchases are only allowed if they can be delivered directly to the aircraft.

For international passengers connecting in the United States, duty free purchased liquids/gels/aerosols measuring 3.4 oz. or less may be brought on board after clearing customs only if the item is placed in a quart-size, clear plastic carry-on zip-top bag. Otherwise, these items will be confiscated.

American Airlines thanks you in advance for your cooperation and understanding in complying with these security measures.
