How does Priority boarding work?

You'll be among the first to board. We invite our First and/or Business Class passengers onboard, then our AAdvantage Executive Platinum members, followed by Platinum and Gold members and then all customers with “Priority Access” on their boarding passes. If you arrive at the gate after general boarding has begun, bypass the line and board immediately via the dedicated Priority lane. For more details, visit aa.com/priorityaccess.

Checked Baggage Benefits

Ready to lighten your load?

As an Executive Platinum member, you may check three bags free of charge (within current size and weight limits, of course) when flying on American. This benefit also extends to those traveling with you on the same reservation. The additional third checked bag is a new benefit extended to all oneworld® Emerald members and includes one additional bag, or if your ticket mentions a weight allowance, an extra 44 lbs., when you fly on eligible tickets on oneworld airlines. View details about checked baggage.

Get your bags faster with Priority Baggage Delivery

As an Executive Platinum member, you receive complimentary Priority Baggage Delivery for travel on American. That means whenever you check bags, they will be tagged as Priority. Once you land, Priority bags are the first ones delivered to baggage claim so you can be on your way more quickly.

Standby Privileges

Need to stand by for a different flight?

As an Executive Platinum member, you can stand by for a different flight on the same day you were planning to travel — at no charge. In addition, those traveling with you on the same reservation can enjoy the same benefit. This benefit applies to travel on American Airlines within and between the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and international points in the Caribbean.

Special Recognition on oneworld Airlines

Traveling on a oneworld airline?

Your special treatment extends to our oneworld member airlines, where you'll be recognized with oneworld Emerald status. As such, you are entitled to priority check-in, preferred seating, priority boarding, stand by and wait listing privileges – the same perks the carrier you are traveling with gives to its own Emerald status customers.

You'll also enjoy day-of-travel access to all oneworld First and Business Class airport lounges when traveling internationally*, as long as your continuing flight is on a marketed and operated oneworld airline. As an added benefit, we invite you to bring one guest with you provided the guest is also traveling on a oneworld marketed and operated flight and is accompanied by you.

To ensure you receive your oneworld Emerald perks, be sure to provide your AAdvantage number when making reservations. Learn more about elite member benefits on oneworld airlines.

Special Privileges on US Airways

As an Executive Platinum member, you will enjoy many benefits to enrich your travel journey at the airport when traveling on US Airways, including First/Business Class check-in, priority through security checkpoints, priority boarding, and complimentary checked bags – three for Executive Platinum members – among other benefits. Learn more about benefits on US Airways.

Special Recognition on Alaska Airlines

You also have access to priority check-in, priority boarding, access to expedited security screening lanes and two checked bags at no charge when traveling on Alaska Airlines. Learn More about benefits on Alaska Airlines.

Admirals Club Membership Options

Interested in Admirals Club membership?

You receive a special reduced rate on an annual Admirals Club membership thanks to your Executive Platinum status. You also have the option of using AAdvantage miles to purchase an Admirals Club membership. Our Admirals Club lounges provide members with complimentary snacks and beverages, computers with Internet access, complimentary Wi-Fi, conference rooms with full business amenities and more. Learn more at aa.com/admiralsclub.

Flagship/Arrival Lounge Access

Want even more exclusive lounge access?

As an Executive Platinum member, you have an invitation to our Flagship Lounge. It's an exclusive, private lounge with even more perks and amenities. We have four Flagship Lounges around the world:

  • Chicago: In Terminal 3, near Gate K19
  • Los Angeles: Enter through the Admirals Club lounge in Terminal 4 near Gate 40
  • London Heathrow: In Terminal 3 on the Departure Level after Passport Control. Exit the Duty Free Lounge and turn right toward Lounge Area H
  • New York Kennedy: Enter through the Admirals Club in Terminal 8, Concourse B

What makes a Flagship Lounge special? Typically, access is restricted to those traveling on a full-fare First Class ticket on transcontinental or international flights. But as an Executive Platinum member, you always have access when flying internationally with American or a oneworld-operated flight. You may even bring one guest with you (if, of course, that guest is traveling with you). Learn more about our Flagship Lounges.

You are also invited to enjoy the new American Airlines and British Airways Arrivals Lounges at London Heathrow in Terminals 3 and 5, regardless of the cabin in which you are flying. Simply show your AAdvantage Executive Platinum card and your boarding pass to enter. Stop by for a continental breakfast, freshen up or even check your messages before leaving the airport. Read more about Arrivals Lounges.

*Lounge access is not available when travel is wholly within the U.S., Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
