Who Is Eligible
You can participate in TSA expedited screening by applying for the program directly through the TSA or if you are a:
U.S. citizen and an AAdvantage® program member who received an opt-in invitation
And now, American Airlines customers who opted-in to the program through AAdvantage are eligible for TSA Expedited Screening on their US Airways flights as well. Be sure to include your AAdvantage number on your US Airways flight reservation to take advantage of this!
How It Works
When you opt in to the program, we share certain information with the TSA Secure Flight System, including:
Your AAdvantage program tier status and /or U.S. CBP Trusted Traveler program information
Your passenger reservation information
Your online and mobile boarding pass will indicate your eligibility once the TSA reviews and approves this information. Please keep in mind that because TSA always incorporates random security measures, eligibility for expedited screening will be determined on a per-flight basis.
How Can I Become A Participant?
If you're an AAdvantage program member:
Go to aa.com, select My Account and log in
Within My Account, go to the Personal Information and Password tab
If you are eligible to participate in the program, you will see an opt-in field for the TSA Expedited Screening Program
If you're a participant in a Customs and Border Protection Program (CBP) and not already an AAdvantage member:
At time of booking, simply provide your CBP 9-digit PASS ID within each reservation.
In addition to participation through the AAdvantage program or membership in a CBP program, the TSA will implement a fee-based online application process in the fall for those interested in TSA Expedited Screening.
