Choose English, French, Japanese or Spanish language options
Check in for up to four (4) flight segments
Select or change your seat
Print or reprint your boarding pass
Check your bags (at ticket counter locations only)
Use the check your bags only option if you already checked in on AA.com
Add your AAdvantage number
Stand by for an earlier or later same day flight
AAdvantage members may request an upgrade. For additional information, visit, www.aa.com/aadvantage
If desired, request a duplicate receipt
Proceed through security then go straight to your gate

Enhancements

American Airlines Self-Service Check-In offers a convenient way for people who have an electronic ticket (E-ticket) to check in at domestic and select international* locations. You can still check in for up to four (4) flight segments, select or change a seat, print or reprint your boarding pass, upgrade, confirm a seat on an alternate flight, standby for an alternate flight, or use the "check bags only" option if you used Flight Check-In on AA.com. Self-Service Check-In has become even faster and more convenient. We are always looking for innovative ways to improve your travel experience so check back often for the latest Self-Service Check-In news. Recent enhancements include:

American offers an option for same-day travel changes. When you check in for your flight with our Self-Service machines, you'll have the option to standby for an alternate flight at no charge or confirm a flight change for a small fee within 12 hours of departure of alternate flights when traveling on a discounted fare. Print boarding passes for up to four flight segments and check bags - even if you have already checked in online using Flight Check In on AA.com.
Check your bags faster by using the bar code on your boarding pass with the bar code reader on the Self-Service machine. Your reservation will be retrieved automatically with no need to swipe a credit card to identify yourself or provide flight information.
Baggage fees for pieces under 50 pounds each, may be processed at a Self-Service Check-In machine using a credit card.
The Confirmed Upgrade option is a way for customers to enjoy the comfort of our premium cabins at an affordable price. This option is offered to passengers who aren't able to use 500-mile upgrades, either because they aren't AAdvantage members, or because they are traveling on fares that are not eligible to be used with 500-mile upgrades. For more information about this option, please view our Self-Service FAQ section.
During check in, AAdvantage members may purchase the 500-mile upgrades they need to complete their upgrade request. 500-mile upgrades will be available through Self-Service at the discounted rate of $30 USD per upgrade. In addition, if your upgrade request has not been confirmed prior to check-in, you will automatically be given the opportunity to be added to the Airport Upgrade Standby List while checking in for your flight at Self-Service. On your day of departure, the Self-Service Check-In machines will allow you to view which airports have Admirals Club lounges. Then, you can conveniently purchase an Admirals Club day pass while checking in. The cost is just $50 - a great value for everything the lounges have to offer. E-ticket holders can access Self-Service Check-In for domestic and select international* locations:

For faster service, swipe your AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum® or AAdvantage Gold® card
Admirals Club® or AAirpass® cards with magnetic strips may be used with our convenient Self-Service machines
For identification purposes, you may also swipe a major credit card or you can locate your reservation with your six-character locator and your name. Please note, the name on the card must match the name in the reservation

Flight Check-In On AA.com
AA.com offers online check-in to its domestic e-ticket customers. You can now check in for your flight anytime from 24 hours to one hour prior to departure at home or the office, select your seat, print your own boarding pass and head straight for your gate. Flight Check-In is available for travel in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virginia Islands.

Curbside Check-In
Need to check luggage? Get your boarding pass at the curb. With Curbside Check-In, you can check bags, pay any associated baggage fees, and get a boarding pass right at the curb. That means you can go straight to the security checkpoint without having to stop at the ticket counter. Curbside Check-In is available for passengers checking bags for a domestic itinerary.
