Our combined loyalty program

Our combined loyalty program

The most rewarding program – period

We've created a single loyalty program by bringing US Airways Dividend Miles® members into the AAdvantage® program. This is a very important milestone in our merger, and it puts us one step closer to operating as one airline.

As an AAdvantage member, you'll earn miles when you fly on American, US Airways, oneworld® and partner airlines. You'll also earn miles when you shop or stay with over 1,000 other partners. Then, redeem your miles for award travel, upgrades, car rentals, hotel stays and much more. And elite members will enjoy new upgrade benefits on both airlines.

Our path to becoming one airline

Integrating our loyalty programs is an important step, but we’ll continue to operate as two separate airlines with separate websites, mobile sites and apps until we have a single reservation system later this year.

If you have a Dividend Miles account or if you match your accounts, there’s nothing you need to do. Soon you’ll get an email with your new AAdvantage number or an email to let you know we’ve combined your accounts.

How to qualify

The AAdvantage program has 3 elite status levels – Gold, Platinum, Executive Platinum – and 3 ways to qualify:

Upgrades

Now that we’ve combined loyalty programs, all complimentary upgrades on eligible flights will be auto-requested. However, elite upgrade policies will vary by airline until we combine reservation systems later in 2015.

To make sure you’re eligible for elite upgrades, you should book flights that are marketed and operated by the same airline – either US Airways or American. If you’re booked on a codeshare flight, you’ll only be able to upgrade when you check in, and as always, upgrades are based on availability.
