Refundable Ticket Validity

Refundable Ticket Validity

Customers, who have purchased AA refundable fare tickets, may receive a full refund on wholly unused refundable fares or receive a full refund minus the applicable cancellation penalty associated to the refundable fare. Partially used tickets, the refund will be the amount paid minus the normal one-way fare applicable for the transportation used and any cancellation penalty fees associated with the refundable fare. Refunds are valid up to the validity of the ticket which is one year from the issuance date.

  • Example: ticket issued June 1, 2012 may be refunded no later than June 1, 2013.

The ticketed flight reservation should be canceled prior to the ticketed departure time to avoid spoilage of the flight segment.

Voluntary Changes:

The ticket will be valid as follows:

  • Wholly unused tickets - Travel must commence within one year from the original ticket issue date
    • Example: Ticket issued on June 1, 2012 - New ticket travel must commence no later than June 1, 2013
  • Partially used tickets - Unless otherwise specified in the fare rule, travel must be completed within one year from the outbound travel date

Any fare difference must be paid and tickets must be reissued when the itinerary is rebooked.
