Main Cabin Extra and Preferred Seating Comparison

During the transition of our fleet reconfiguration, the difference between Main Cabin Extra and Preferred Seats may be confusing to customers. Below is a comparison between Main Cabin Extra and Preferred seats to help in describing the difference to customers:

Main Cabin Extra Seats

  • More comfort by providing 4-6 inches of additional legroom
  • Seats located in the front of the coach cabin, allowing easier boarding and deplaning
  • Group 1 Priority boarding privileges to passengers who purchase Main Cabin Extra seats

Preferred Seats

  • Standard legroom, more favorably located throughout the Main Cabin

Customs/Security Line Delays

Congress passed the Reducing Flight Delays Act, to end sequestration-related furloughs on April 26, 2013. Airport personnel have the authority to re-accomomodate customers impacted due to Customs/Security delays.

Sabre and AAdvantage Program Instant Enrollment: Ending in October

Please be advised that Sabre agencies will no longer have the ability to instantly enroll customers in the AAdvantage® program via the GDS due to technical considerations with the AAdvantage program, effective October 2013.

The following are some alternate ways that customers can enroll in the AAdvantage program:

  1. Customers can log onto aa.com from their own computer or tablet and follow the easy "Join Program" steps.
  2. Customers can download the AA app to their iPhone, iPad or Android device and follow the easy "Join Program" steps.
  3. Customers who have access to the Admirals Club® can ask the Premium Services rep to enroll them.

In all cases, the new AAdvantage number will appear in Sabre the following day. Customers should request retroactive credit for flights already taken on aa.com or ask an agent to add their new AAdvantage number to their PNR while traveling. Customers can also add their AAdvantage number to an existing PNR on aa.com under "My Trips" when logged-in, or when checking into a flight online.

Agents / reps can also force the new AAdvantage number into the PNR on the day that the AAdvantage number is issued.

Schedule Change Update – Flights operated by Chautauqua Airlines as AmericanConnection

Flights affected by the schedule change implemented this past weekend, have been reinstated into availability. This affected flights operated by Chautauqua Airlines as AmericanConnection for travel beginning August 27, 2013 and beyond.

Schedule Change Problem – AmericanConnection service at Chicago O'Hare

A schedule change was implemented this past weekend which inadvertently caused flights operated by Chautauqua Airlines as AmericanConnection for travel beginning August 27, 2013 to not process correctly. All PNRs which underwent the schedule change were rebooked on other service to/from the affected cities or may have been WK'd if no other service was available.

American Airlines is working to resolve this problem as quickly as possible and will advise how to handle the reservations once the flights are restored. Please refrain from processing schedule changes on flights operated by Chautauqua Airlines as AmericanConnection for travel August 27, 2013 and beyond.
