Guatemala Travel Policy
May 28, 2010

Due to a volcanic eruption in Guatemala, American Airlines offers customers the convenience to change their plans. Customers ticketed to travel on AA flights to or from the areas listed below may change flights as shown without penalty.

If traveling to or from Guatemala City, Guatemala (GUA) on May 28 - June 1, 2010 and your ticket was issued no later than May 28, 2010, you may begin travel as late as June 7, 2010. Original ticketed inventory not required.

One ticketed change is allowed with no penalty. Passengers may elect to fly into or out of San Salvador (SAL). Tickets must be re-issued by June 1, 2010.

To change travel dates or for inquiries regarding flights to/from San Salvador, contact our Reservations personnel at 1-800-433-7300 within the United States or Canada. If you are calling from outside the United States or Canada, please check our Worldwide Reservations Numbers page for Reservations.

Update On Beijing Service
May 12, 2010

American Airlines will begin nonstop service from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Beijing on May 25, with four flights per week, and will operate four nonstop flights per week from Beijing to Chicago starting on May 27. Beginning July 3, American will offer daily departures from both cities. Please refer to Update On Beijing Service for additional information.

Confirmed Flight Change - Same Day Travel Changes

As a reminder, for tickets purchased February 22, 2010, or later, the standby policy has changed for American Airlines, American Eagle and AmericanConnection® for travel within and between the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Caribbean or Canada. Only premium customers retain the ability to standby for earlier or later same-day flights. Any customers who want to secure a confirmed flight change, regardless of their elite status, will have an option to pay $50 to guarantee a seat on an earlier or later same-day flight when available. Large Kennel Reminder

As a reminder, Type 500 kennels or larger are not accepted on the Boeing MD-80 (S80).  Kennels checked on MD-80s must be able to fit through the cargo door while remaining in an upright position.  MD-80 cargo doors are 29” high x 53” wide.  Please reference Traveling With Pets for additional information.
