American Launches Chicago – Beijing Service

American Launches Chicago – Beijing Service

American has wanted to couple a flight to Beijing with its service from Chicago to Shanghai Pudong International Airport that began in 2006 in order to meet passenger expectations and to expand its route network for a few years. The inaugural flight comes in time for the celebration of Asian American Heritage Month in the United States.

“American is a sponsor of the USA Pavillion at the World Expo being held in Shanghai this summer and its participation is designed to strengthen the bonds between the people of the United States and China,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s Senior Vice President – Planning. “This new route to Beijing will do so as well.”

The Beijing Service

The Beijing flight will be operated using a Boeing 777, with14 First Class, 37 Business Class and 194 Economy passengers. Beijing Capital International Airport’s recently expanded Terminal 3 will be home to American Airlines, along with oneworld partners British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines and Qantas. The Beijing subway system’s Airport Express Line conveniently serves travelers from the airport where they can connect to various stops throughout the city. Shuttle buses also serve the airport, linking travelers to wherever they need to go.

American offers fully flat First Class seats and lie-flat-at-an-angle Business Class seats.
