American Airlines, in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), offers TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID at all American hub airports and 60 additional airports. Eligible AAdvantage® members can use a dedicated TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID lane for a faster, touchless experience at airport security.

Once you’re opted in, a face scan verifies your identity — no physical ID needed.

How TSA Precheck® Touchless ID works

TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID is available to eligible AAdvantage® members at select TSA PreCheck® lanes. Participation is optional and requires opt-in, and enrollment lasts 12 months.

Getting started with Touchless ID

To opt in, you must:

  • Be an AAdvantage® member
  • Add your Known Traveler Number (KTN) to your AAdvantage® account
  • Add a valid passport to your AAdvantage® account
  • Opt in to participate in TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID with American Airlines
  • Use the American Airlines app

How to opt in

You can opt in at any time in your AAdvantage® profile.

  1. Log in to your AAdvantage® account
  2. Go to 'Information and password'
  3. Under ‘Secure traveler’, save your passport and Known Traveler Number
  4. Confirm that your name, date of birth and passport number matches your passport
  5. Scroll to 'TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID', select the opt-in box and save

You can also opt in during mobile check-in or in 'Ready to Fly' hub in the American app. After opting in, you'll stay enrolled in Touchless ID for 12 months.

How to opt out

You can opt out anytime by updating your AAdvantage® account preferences. If you’ve already checked in for an eligible flight, Touchless ID will still apply for that trip.

Using Touchless ID at the airport

When you arrive at the airport:

  1. Confirm you've opted in to TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID
  2. Check in for your flight using the American Airlines app
  3. Look for the TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID symbol on your mobile boarding pass
  4. Use the TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID lane at participating airports

You may use your physical ID at any time. Keep your mobile boarding pass available in case TSA asks to see it before you enter the lane.

The TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID symbol may appear on your boarding pass for any trip. At airports without Touchless ID, you can still use the TSA PreCheck® lane.
