American Airlines and Japan Airlines Announce Joint Business Benefits for Trans-Pacific Customers

Japan Airlines and American Airlines® (American) today decided to commence their joint business from April 1, 2011 based on the expected start of revenue-sharing on applicable trans-Pacific flights. AA To Operate World's Only Service Between New York And Japan's Tokyo Haneda Airport

American Airlines today announced it will be the first U.S. airline to launch service between the continental United States and Tokyo's International Airport at Haneda (Haneda) since the United States and Japan signed a historic Open Skies Agreement in October 2010. American is the world's only airline to fly between New York and Tokyo's Haneda in more than 30 years. American will begin its historic service on Friday, Feb. 18, from New York's John F. Today, AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines, Inc., reported a net profit of $143 million for the third quarter of 2010, or $0.39 per diluted share. This compares with a net loss of $359 million for the third quarter of 2009, or $1.26 per share, which included the impact of approximately $94 million in non-recurring charges related to the sale of certain aircraft and the grounding of leased Airbus A300 aircraft prior to lease expiration. Excluding those non-recurring charges, the third quarter 2009 loss was $265 million, or $0.93 per share. Third quarter and recent highlights include: AMR launched joint business with British Airways and Iberia, receivedTentative DOT Approval for Antitrust Immunity with Japan Airlines and is enhancing its strategic position in Los Angeles.
