We have several check-in options available:

  • Check-in desks are located in Terminal 2, Hall E between counters 965-969
  • Online Check-In is available from 24 hours and up to 2 hours before your flight departure time

American Airlines operates a number of clubs and lounges worldwide.  At Frankfurt Airport eligible customers can use the Sakura Lounge provided by JAL, where you can relax and unwind before your flight.

Location & Opening Hours

Located at Terminal 2, in Hall D on level 3 after the passport control but before security checkpoint in the D area.
Open daily from 05.30 -23.30

Lounge Access

You can access the lounge if you are one of the following on day of flight departure:

  • First Class passengers
  • Business Class passengers
  • AAdvantage Executive Platinum and AAdvantage Platinum members
  • oneworld Emerald and Sapphire tier members
  • Admirals Club Member


First Class passengers, AAdvantage Executive Platinum and AAdvantage Platinum members are allowed to bring one guest.

Business Class customers are not allowed to bring guests.

Admirals Club members may bring in two guests or the immediate family.

Transferring between flights is simple when you know how. Take a look at the tips below that will help you make a smoother connection at Frankfurt Airport.

Where do I go once I’ve arrived at the airport?

Once you’ve arrived at Frankfurt airport follow the signs to the departure gate for your connecting flight.

What happens if I do not have a boarding pass?

If you do not have a boarding pass, you will need to see an American Airlines representative at the departure gate if you have remained in transit or at the AA check-in counter at Terminal 2, Hall E.

Do I have to pick up my luggage or re check-in again?

If your bags have been labelled to your final destination, your luggage will be transferred directly to your final destination.

How do I get between Terminals?

Airside transfer is available via the Sky Line train or walking between the transit areas.  Non-airside transfers are available via Bus Service or the Sky Line train.

XClose Travelling To / From Frankfurt Airport

When travelling to the airport, please allow yourself plenty of time. To help you on your way we have some travel suggestions below, but please check with the relevant operator before setting off to ensure you have the most up to date information.


There are a number of bus services available located outside Terminal 2, at Level 2 and outside Terminal 1, at the Arrivals Level. You can purchase your ticket on the bus.

If you’re travelling by car, the motorways A 3, A 67 and A 5 will lead you directly to the airport. Just follow the signs to the airport and Terminal 2.

You can only stop outside the front of the arrivals area for a short while so it’s best to use the parking facilities available.

There’s a constant flow of taxis available at both terminals.  A trip to/from the centre of Frankfurt takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
