Your help is greatly appreciated by the people affected by natural disasters. A gift of any size supports the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross, whether it's responding to a disaster, collecting lifesaving blood, teaching skills that can save a life, or assisting military members and their families. Your support helps the Red Cross prepare for and respond to the storms, and provide services such as food, shelter and emotional support to those impacted.

Update as of September 23, 2013:

Mexico
Hurricanes Manuel and Ingrid brought high winds and torrential rains and left a wide path of devastation and flooding on both coasts of Mexico. More than 1 million people were affected throughout Mexico, affecting over 20 states throughout the country. And in the Pacific resort of Acapulco, roads became raging torrents, initially stranding tourists.

Since the storms struck, the American Red Cross has been in close contact with the Mexican Red Cross, and has committed an initial $150,000 to the response. They will continue to work with the Mexican Red Cross as the full extent of damages and needs are assessed.

As flood water recedes, the Mexican Red Cross will continue to deliver disaster relief supplies to help people clean up their flooded homes, and and search and rescue efforts continue.

Domestic Events
Colorado
Heavy rains caused flooding in Larimer, Weld, Boulder and Jefferson Counties, with evacuations taking place in Boulder. However, the situation in Colorado continues to stabilize after the major flooding that occurred nearly two weeks ago. The operational focus is transitioning from emergency response to recovery. As people begin to return to their neighborhoods, the American Red Cross is distributing relief items such as clean up kits, rakes, tarps, shovels, flashlights, gloves, coolers, comfort kits and insect repellant. More than 200 people stayed in seven shelters around Colorado.

New Mexico, Nebraska, Texas and Louisiana
The Red Cross is helping people impacted by flooding, including many evacuees, by providing shelter, meals and comfort.
