Special and medical meals

If you have special dietary requirements, you can let us know in advance and we will provide you with a suitable meal. You can request a special or medical meal through Manage My Booking.

Special meals are available to:

  • all longhaul customers

  • Club Europe customers

  • Euro Traveller customers travelling to and from Kiev, Athens, Istanbul, Larnaca, Sofia, St Petersburg and Bucharest

If you're travelling on a standby or waitlist ticket you will not be able to request a special meal.

A minimum of 48 hours notice is required for Kosher and Muslim meal requests. For all other special meal requests,  a minimum of 24 hours notice is required.

A minimum of 48 hours notice is required for all special or medical meal requests on flights operated by Comair.

Special meals

Type of meal Description
Lacto ovo vegetarian Does not contain meat, fish or seafood. May contain dairy products such as milk, butter, cheese and eggs etc.
Vegan vegetarian Does not contain meat, fish, fowl, eggs, honey, dairy products or derivatives. If vegan is not specified, then a lacto ovo meal will be provided.
Asian vegetarian Does not contain fish, shellfish, meat, poultry or eggs. It is a meatless meal and spicy in content.
Hindu Does not contain beef, beef derivatives, veal or pork, it is not a meatless meal.
Muslim Does not contain pork, by-products of pork or foodstuffs containing alcohol. All meats come from ritually slaughtered animals.
Please note: Muslim meals are not available on European flights when the aircraft has night-stopped away from the UK
Jain meal Jain meals are strict vegetarian meals, the food is prepared to an Indian style, the meal does not contain onions, potatoes, garlic or root vegetables.
Please note: Jain meals are not available from Athens or flights from the Caribbean to London except for flights from Providenciales.
Kosher These meals are prepared to comply with Jewish dietary laws.
Please note: Kosher meals are available on all longhaul routes apart from the Middle East, Almaty, Baku, the Caribbean, Nairobi, Mauritius, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam and Malé.
Kosher meals are available on shorthaul routes in Club Europe and Euro Traveller apart from Istanbul, Bucharest, Sofia, Tbilisi, Tripoli, St. Petersburg and Milan Linate into London.
Seafood meal Contains a selection of seafood for those restricted to eating seafood only. Availability is restricted on some European services.
Child meal Contains a combination of familiar and fun foods. Available on all longhaul services for children aged 2-12 years and on certain shorthaul services.
Please note: Meals should be booked 24 hours in advance as only a limited supply of extra meals are carried. May contain Beef and Pork products.
Baby meal
Cannot be pre-ordered 
We offer on-board bottle and baby-food warming facilities on our longhaul flights. Baby food and baby milk can be provided on request on-board our longhaul services, however we carry very limited amount of baby food on-board. We recommend that you carry your own baby food and equipment (liquids and sufficient supplies of sterilised bottles) in your hand baggage. We are not able to sterilise bottles or provide sterilised water.
Please note: Baby meals are not available on flights to and from London City to New York. 
Bland For those with digestive tract and gut disorders. Excludes mustard, pickles, garlic, fried and fatty food.
Diabetic For those who need to manage blood sugar levels. Foods excluded are sugars, syrups, jams, cakes and chocolate, unless specifically for diabetics.
Fresh fruit platter A single fresh fruit plate. Restricted availability on some European flights.
Gluten intolerant Foods excluded are wheat or wheat flour, barley oats and rye, bread, cakes (unless wheat free), pastry, sausages or any flour based products.
Low calorie A low calorie diet should not contain excessive protein portions and the meal is low in fat and sugar.
Low fat High fibre meal with reduced amounts of fat.
Low salt Excludes use of salt, MSG and baking soda/powder, instead herbs and spices are used to flavour the meal.
Low lactose Excludes cheese, dairy products and their derivatives and lactose or milk products.

Unfortunately, variations of the meal request cannot be accepted, as we are unable to guarantee delivery of them across our entire network. Also, requests for specific items such as lobster, steak, caviar, fruit plate made for personal preference cannot be accepted.
