An AAdvantage Pass™ package allows members to elevate their travel experience with American. Each package comes with bonus miles, Loyalty Points and AAdvantage® status to make your journey more rewarding.

All miles from an AAdvantage Pass™ package will be bonus miles. Bonus miles do not earn Loyalty Points. However, each package also includes Loyalty Points to help accelerate your status progress and unlock Loyalty Point Rewards.

Once purchased, packages are non-refundable and can’t be exchanged.

No, you won't be able to buy a package for the same or lower status than your current one. Instant Status Pass™ promotions are non-refundable, so you must wait until it expires to buy a package for the same status.

For example, if you have AAdvantage Gold® status through an Instant Status Pass™ promotion, then you'll need to wait until it expires to buy an AAdvantage Gold Pass™ package.

No, you can't buy two packages for the same status. Your current package must expire before you can buy another one.

For example, if you’ve already bought an AAdvantage Gold Pass™ package, you’ll need to wait until it expires to buy another one for the same status.

You can buy packages for yourself online. If you'd like to gift an AAdvantage Pass™ package to someone else, please contact AAdvantage® Customer Service.

AAdvantage Pass™ packages for businesses

Yes, if you're a Travel Manager for an AAdvantage Business℠ account, you can buy packages on behalf of your company.

Bonus miles will be deposited into your company’s account to use on flights, hotels, car rentals, lounge access and more.

In addition, Travel Managers can assign status and Loyalty Points* to registered travelers for a more elevated travel experience.

If your company has a corporate partnership with American, contact your Account Manager to learn more about available AAdvantage Pass™ packages.

*Loyalty Points and status from a single package must be assigned together to the same registered traveler. Travel Managers won’t be able to assign them separately.

Travel Managers have 1 year from the purchase date to assign status and Loyalty Points to a registered traveler.

If status is assigned within 90 days of purchase, it will stay active for 1 year from the date the status is assigned. If status is assigned after 90 days, it will be active for 1 year, starting from the 90-day mark. If status and Loyalty Points are not assigned within a year of purchase, they will expire.

Until then, every dollar spent by a company on AAdvantage Pass™ packages will only count toward unlocking the AAdvantage Business Select™ tier.

Travel Managers can buy up to 15 packages per order, as long as they are available. There's no limit to how many orders a Travel Manager can place.

No, once status and Loyalty Points are assigned, they can’t be reversed or transferred to another member. AAdvantage Pass™ packages are non-refundable and can’t be exchanged.

Yes, you have 90 days after you close your account to assign any unassigned statuses and Loyalty Points.

he Buy Miles program allows individual AAdvantage® members to buy miles for themselves. With the Gift Miles program, members can buy miles as a gift to other members.

AAdvantage Business℠ accounts can’t gift miles or receive them as a gift. However, Travel Managers can buy miles for any of their business accounts.

Yes, you’ll receive a confirmation email when the miles are posted to your account, or your company’s AAdvantage Business℠ account if you’re a Travel Manager. If you gift miles, the recipient will also receive a confirmation email.

Miles typically post to the account right away, but please allow up to 4 hours.

Yes. You can buy or gift up to 200,000* AAdvantage® miles per calendar year through the Buy Miles and Gift Miles programs combined. You can also receive up to 200,000* AAdvantage® miles per calendar year through the Gift Miles program.

For AAdvantage Business℠ accounts, Travel Managers can buy up to 200,000* miles per calendar year through the Buy Miles program. Business accounts aren't able to gift miles or receive them as a gift.

Note: Miles received as part of an AAdvantage Pass™ package don’t count toward the maximum number of miles you can buy or receive as a gift.

Transfer miles

The Transfer Miles program allows AAdvantage® members to transfer miles from their AAdvantage® account into other AAdvantage® members' accounts.

Transfers from AAdvantage Business℠ accounts are managed through the travel management portal at aadvantagebusiness.aa.com, subject to the program rules.

With the Transfer Miles program, a member transfers miles they already earned to another member's account. Miles will be deducted from the sender’s account and deposited into the recipient’s account.

With the Gift Miles program, a member pays for miles to be deposited into another member's account. No miles are deducted from the sender's account.

No, miles may be transferred into any account as long as neither the sender nor the recipient has exceeded the 200,000-mile maximum per calendar year.

Yes. Each AAdvantage® member can:

Transfer up to 200,000* miles out of their account per calendar year. Receive up to 200,000* AAdvantage® miles transferred from other members per calendar year.

For example, you may transfer 50,000 miles to each of 4 different AAdvantage® members, totaling 200,000 miles. You can also receive up to 200,000 miles from others.

Note: This transfer limit is separate from miles received through AAdvantage Pass™ packages and the Buy Miles and Gift Miles programs.

You’ll receive a confirmation email when the miles have been deducted from your AAdvantage® account and deposited into the recipient's account. The recipient will receive a confirmation email at the email addresses listed in their AAdvantage® account.

Once the miles have been transferred, they cannot go back into the original account, unless the recipient decides to transfer the miles back as a new transaction (if limits haven’t been reached). The transfer fee is non-refundable.

You may use any valid Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express credit card.

Yes. You’ll earn the same amount of miles as you do on eligible American Airlines purchases when you use your AAdvantage® credit card to buy, gift or transfer miles, or buy an AAdvantage Pass™ package.

No. Transactions cannot be refunded, reversed or exchanged.

When you complete the online transaction, you’ll receive a confirmation number on the screen and in your confirmation (receipt) email. It's a good idea to keep your confirmation number until the miles are deposited.

If you bought miles, it usually posts to the designated account right away, but please allow up to 4 hours. For AAdvantage Pass™ packages, your bonus miles, Loyalty Points and status will be added to your account within 24 to 48 hours. In some cases, it may take up to 7 days to process and apply to any existing bookings.

For travel on partner or oneworld® airlines, it may take longer to apply your new benefits to any existing bookings.

If you bought an AAdvantage Pass™ package for your business, the status and Loyalty Points will be available for your Travel Manager to assign within the same timeframe.
